wire thingy on cars on the road

these questions has always been bothering me...

1. some cars on the road have this wire thingy sticking out of hte car...its either on the front side or rear side, but mostly rear. i always thought its where the oil drips..but iono why do people want oil to drip...any ideas?

2. and sometimes they have this thing hanging behind the rear bumper, near the bottom with a upside down triangle reflector thing on it...

any ideas what those are? thanks

#1 are Curb feelers!!!! they use em to hear if their car is near the curb when they park so taht they wont scratch up their rims..makes a scratching noise when against the pavement...used to be real popular back in the day...i think they look really weird though lol

dont know what # 2 is though

Man, you ask a ton of questions. The one with the triangle grounds the car so you don't get shocked when you close your door.

like the idea, hate the look.with my 5% tints it's kinda hard to see at night,i curbed my rim already, but those things belong on a 60-70's caddy with spokes/whitewalls if anything.
