Window Tint
Window Tint
I want to tint out my champaine color cl but do not know what % tint to go with. I am thinking of 35% but it might be too light. What % tint would look best on my car? Also i dont want it to be super dark becuase i dont want to get pulled over by cops. Can someone please post pictures of thier tint and % that they have it at. Thanks

All depends on state laws. I went 35 and really like it, but wish it was a bit darker. I went legal because the cl was my daily driver, now that it's a summer/show car only, I want to go darker. Just to warn you though, as soon as I got my 35 done I wished I did 20. But like saiko said, check out your laws. Around here, i'd get pulled over at least once a week if i went darker and used it as a daily
Like everyone else said before, firts check with your State's guidance for tinting, in most states, they don't allow anything darker than 35% front and then whatever else in the back. I went with 35" for front and 15% back, just because cops in Hollywood are relentless ... and I got pukked over a few times ( no ticket tho). But to me it does the trick ... when parked underground etc it looks black, check the pic.

i live in california so basically any tint for the front windows are illegal. I have a tan interior so i am thinking that 35% wont look as dark as compared to those with black cars and interior. From some pictures online 35% only looks slightly tinted or am i totally off

I have 15% all around and 30% on the front windshield
I love it though on my black CL.. It was hard to get used to when it rained at night (something HIDs could help me with
) I do wish I got 5% all around though

damn bro, you tinted the front too!?! HAWT
5% FTW!!!!! That is personal choice though, and what I have on the CLs. What state do you live in? Each state has different laws regarding tint. I believe 15-20% is a good medium for most states though. This does not look too dark to be pulled over, but still provdies privacy/cover.
5 minutes all up in it.........damn edit
I did have 5% all arond and 30% on my 04 TL, that shit was so dark! Cops and others would stare, but the only ones I ever had issues with were state troops. They gave me 2 tickets for window tint in the TL. I think this was due to the windshield/black car, b/c I had 5% on my C class (maroon, with visor strip as well) and my CLs (white) and have had no problems.

Personally, if you are getting tint, do it all the way around, doesn't look right at different percentages on different windows. ESPECIALLY the front doors and wedge windows. I have 35 all around, I wouldn't mix match tint percents

throws the look, off exception is i'm eventually doing the winshield %35 cuz %5 while it would look hot on the winsheild is suicide
Thanks for the tips. Does anyone have any out door pictures of thier 35% tint? I am debating if this is too light because of my tan interior. Any one with a side view of thier car will be greatly appriciated

Day I got the tint done
Inside a parking garage right after I got it tinted, 35% all around
Outside in direct sunlight, note the sun is coming right through the windshield and pushing light out of the tint, but it def looks light and can be seen through. (weird seeing my car as a 4x4 now)
sweet pic from the rear. wut % are ur tails?

They look really black normally. But the 35 is too much, I'd get pulled over everyday around here with the dark shit. Plus you can still see a hint of red with mine, makes it look so smooth. Thanks for the comments

I love my boy's 20% tint, looks way better than my 35. When I get a new passenger window (mine has a key scratch) and now that my car isn't a daily driver, i wanna go for 20% May do it myself this time too, I did my boy's and it looks good. Plus my tail lights are pretty much flawless, not sure if I wanna undertake doing the CL though
20 is def hot. I'd do 5, but i wouldn't make it 100 feet down the street (school zone)
