Window Regulator Question

So my passenger side went out last spring and I replaced it, today my drivers side seemed to have gone out. Two things:

1) I didn't have time to remove it completely, but it seems like the cable may not be broken, could the cable just have fell off its positon? Has this every happened to anyone, and if so was it hard to get back into position?

2) I have a 97 CL 3.0 6 Cylinder.. All of the adds I see for replacements say the window regulator/motor is for - 2.2L, 4 Cylinder — CL. Shouldn't make a difference right?

Thanks for the replies.

I did a pretty good look around. Didn't see any threads pertaining to a regulator that didn't have the cable snap, which is why I'm asking.

Thanks for your informative reply however.

My cable did not snap. They don't snap, the regulator just breaks apart because, it is cheap plastic. Just buy a new one. I also just did a pretty good look around (2 minute search) and couldn't find anyone talking about their regulators snapping.

Um, there is a search function but because they say they searched I'll be merciful, regulators go bad without the cable snapping all the time, the motor itself burns out or comes off track. There's a diy guide on how to replace it in the diy/faq forum I believe
