Window Regulator
Window Regulator
Just wondering how many people have had to replace their window regulators and what you paid. I'm going on my 4th driver and 2nd passenger. This is obviously a bad quality part and was wondering what we can do about it, if anything.
not yet but they are noticably slower, and occasionally they make a squeeking noise when going down, at about 1/4 of the way down it sounds like the window is rubbing against one of the plastic moldings that are directly on the glass.
are these warning signs? if so next time i take it in ill tell them about it, as im still under warranty.

My 97 CL 3.0 has 283,000 km's ( approx. 175,000 miles) on it and I have had my driver's window stick open several times and I have been able to help it back up while flicking the switch. My dealer just empties a can of WD 40 into the door and it fixes it for a few months. It has always been slow going up, but the passenger window has never had any problems.

I guess this window topic jinxed my cars window. My car was broken into by breaking my driver side window about a month ago. The insurance company replaced the window and ever since then, the window was acting pretty weird (going down slow, making noises etc...). Well today my window would not go down but I could hear the motor working as the window switch is pushed down. When the window motor stops making noise (since the window should be all the way down, even though it has not moved at all), I can then push the window down with my hand and palm. Once I push the window down, I can then flip the window switch up to close the window and the window closes like nothing is wrong at all.
Anyone know whats up with my window? Is it time for a new regulator? Thanks for the help.

Hello all, long time reader, first time poster here...a newbie.
Yes, well I need to. I have owned the 2.3 for about a month. The windows in it are much slower than in my 98 Accord. The Accord's are actually quite zippy. After some investigaton I find that the Accord's are a scissors and gear mechanism. The 2.3's are a cable mechanism. I was going to look and see if the shape of the doors and the windows would allow me to use the Honda mechanism instead of the Acura. The cost of the parts initially would be a little higher, $140 instead of around $100, but if they don't break again and they are faster, wouldn't it be worth it? Anybody have any experience with this? If this is such a common problem, is there a TSB or anyhting on it?

Replaced it last year-no charge
After talking to the service rep. and since the car was out of warranty (about 8 mos) he first said it'll be about $200 but after a few winks and smiles he did it for free. Claimed it was on "good faith" on the invoice. It is a problematic piece and you are able to complain with Acura and the National Highway Safety. I actually put in a complaint just yesterday along with an faulty airbag complaint.
Good Luck!
