Window Issues
Hi everyone,
I'm new here... I've had my CL since 1997 and just today had the first major problem with it... I'm pulling out of a parking lot, roll down the window (push the "auto" button that puts it all the way down), and pay the attendent. As I'm pulling out, I try to put it back up, but it refuses to go back up.
The entire ride home I played with it, waiting, pushing the up button, pushing down button some more. Sometimes I'd hear crackling sounds, almost like the window's broken. Sometimes I heard nothing. But all times - the window refuses to go back up. It won't go up at all... I tried sticking my fingers as far in as I could and couldn't find any broken pieces or anything.
Note that I'm not car-inclined at all and know nothing. I can't fix this, but want some more info. before bringing it into a dealership. Is this a big issue? Is the window itself broken? Just some motor inside? Why would this happen?
Also - is there a way to get the window up for the time being? I don't live in the safest of areas (a college campus) and don't want my radio or anything to be stolen! PLEASE HELP!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Dan

o geez.. your in deep sh*t...
err.. did u try checking the fuses under your hood? pop open your hood and there should be a fuse box.. try checking the fuse that goes with window?
(is there a fuse like this??)
or!!
u could go all out and try pulling the door apart.. and see if a belt snapped or something...
personally.. i have no experience with windows.. sorry to hear about your problem though..
hopefully there will be another member who could answer your question..

Sounds like your window regulator is out. It is a common problem with our car. There window gets pulled up a track by a cable and the cable get separated from the window thus the window does dont function. The sounds you are hearing is the motor still moving the cable. The entire assembly needs to be replaced. The acura dealership will charge around 300-400 dollars. You can buy a new one from this business: HAP auto recycling.

i bought mine from them (new part) for 91.00 after tax. I am sure that shipping would be minimal and the install work is not that difficult. If you can install a cold air intake you can install the regulator. I am sure there are many threads on this topic. Search for "window regulator" in the search function and you might be able to find a DIY install...Hope this helps..

when you try to roll up or down both of front windows in same time, is the driver side window is more faster than the passenger side window???
if so, is there any way to make it up and down in same time??
cuz.. i just installed auto window roll up and down.. but they close in different time..
so.. just wondering..

my driver side window goes up and down a lot faster than my passenger side, when the driver side is 100% up, the passenger side is just about 80% up, maybe its another case of bad windows on our cars
