Where should I begin?
Where should I begin?
I'm in the process of purchasing a stock 97' Red CL 2.2. I'm looking at all these awesome cars and realizing I wanna hook mine up too once I get it. I've never enhanced a car I owned before and have no idea where to start. Any sugestions? Spoiler, body kit new gauge faces? I'm not ready to get under the hood, cause i don't know much about cars, so I figured I start with the body. Any help would be appreciated, I should have it bright and early christmas morning with a big ass bow, pictures to come.
i wouldnt do anything on ur list first cept maybe the spoiler. if i could do it all over again it would be in this order.
-tint
-drop (springs and shocks)
-rims
-xenon projector conversion
-intake, header, exhuast
-custom bumpers
without at least a drop or rims ur car will look retarded with a body kit. and any body kit is going to have to be custom so $$$$$. might as well drop it and enjoy the better handling. not too low since ur in the city.
AND WELCOME

Welcome!
Of the items you listed, I chose "clear corners".
You mentioned doing nothing under the hood, and that's disappointing!
I wouldn't worry about a body kit. The spoiler would be a nice touch (but then again, what spoiler did you have in mind)?
Indiglo (or reverse indiglo) would also be cool.
However, I would seriously recommend getting am AEM CAI, headers, and a cat-back exhaust!

This website is great, thanks for the responses so far. Ok, so lets say I know nothing about the mechanics of my car, who do I have do the engine mods? My regular mechanic? P.S. I'm going to need to change the timing belt when I get the car, anything I should know?
So yeah, Tint is gonna be my first mod. I forgot about that one. Any suggestions on what tint to do? What's street legal? I tend to like nothing to dark. I ask the legal question cause I believe NYC has tinting laws.
I like the stock spoilers that come on the newer CL's, how is the stock spoiler for the 97. (I have a feeling people are going to bawl me out for this one.)

There are a number of threads on this board to show you how to "do it yourself" when it comes to engine mods. With some basic tools (screwdrivers, socket set, torque wrench, jack, jack stands) you can do many mods yourself. Just do a "search" for whatever you're looking for, and you'll probably will find it. If not, just post a question on the board, and someone will explain how to do it.
As for the spoiler question, whenever I see that someone is looking for a body kit, I automatically assume that they're looking for one of the double-deckers wings or one of those aluminum spoilers from "The Fast and the Furious"!
The stock spoiler is the same for 1997-1999.

others you can have just about any shop do...
your ACURA dealer should warranty Comptech parts, but they are more expensive.... just read the board and search for stuff you dont know, theres tons of info here
Also, out of curiostiy, I'm getting the car for $4,500. It's got 92,000 miles and is clean, no accidents, dents or dings and is serviced regularly. He's also giving me a set of goodyear snow tires. Is it me or is this a steal?
