Where is the cabin air filter?

Did a search and saw that our cars have one, but didn't see anything on how to access it. I'm guessing you have to remove the glove box and wanted to make sure.

TIA

I don't think 97's have it as we share the same platform as the 94-97 accords which also did not. 98+ accords have cabin air filters.

Hmm... I wonder if you can purchase the bracket and filter and install it like on Civic's.

I found this thread with part numbers for the filter.

I wish the 97's weren't such a bastard child.

Last time I had my car serviced as the dealership I thought they told me I didn't have a cabin filter.. 99 2.3. I'll have to look over my invoice when I get home.

This has never been confirmed, and I never ripped my AC apart, because no one ever confirmed it. I believe there is a filter, but it's a non-serviceable item just like the fuel filter

If it's "non-serviceable" what happens if/when it plugs?

Do our first gen CLs have the same thing? Filter behind the glove compartment?

I have my glovebox and console out right now, so I can try this week some time, I've had the spare filters for a couple years now

I've looked several times, and never knew which box to open, even checked my helms manual, I'll give it a shot

I'm thinking it probably has one because I've never had leaves or anything blow through the vents like I've seen on all my past Honda's.

If there is one, mine has to be almost completely blocked by now. It's coming up on 200k miles.

I get leaves blowing through my vents sometimes (i have a 97) even some times those silly maple leaf tree key/seed things once in a while.

When i read the 97's were non-serviceable, I figured I wouldnt bother checking cause the only way to get at it would be to replace the entire unit. Maybe I will try once Blackack rips his apart

If it's non-serviceable, I wonder if it's just a plastic screen rather than a paper filter.

^^^ for some reason now I have a feeling it might be a series of baffles, so no filter. Especially if leaves and crap can get through.

I know this is an old post and I'm sorry, but how is the fuel filter not serviceable? I replaced mine without breaking anything and it doesn't leak.

Acura bills it as a non-serviceable item, I did mine myself, I had a problem with the oem honda filter I bought, but I got it eventually

1997 Cabin FIlter

Hi, I have been following the 1997 cabin filter discussions with interest, as I have never replaced my filters going on 200K miles. I noticed that some posts indicate that the filters are unserviceable, while others suggest their location as being under the hood at the base of the windshield. Today I removed the glovebox and wasn't able to locate the filter box; I also popped the hood and did not see anything obvious on/near the firewall. The fact that I purchased replacement filters on ebay may not necessarily indicate that they are serviceable; however, I surveyed all areas of my car and could not find even a hint of their location. Meanwhile, the putrid air continues to circulate. Sorry about the continued questioning...
