When is the fan suppose to come on?
Hey guys,
I recently started having problems with overheating and I think its because my fans don't come on when I am driving. The other day my car started to overheat and I popped the hood and the fans weren't on. The temp guage read like 3/4's and the fans weren't on. Now the car is always at 1/2 when i am driving and the only way to lower the temp is to blast the defogger. Can anyone tell me if my fans should be runnign when my car gets hot or do they only turn on when the car is off? Please help!!!

One fan should come on to cool the car. If the a/c is on, both fans will turn. You can test the fans by turning on the a/c and setting the temp to 60 degrees. Then, pop the hood and look to see if both fans are turning. If they are not, or if only one fan is turning, you got trouble. Then it is a matter of testing back to the first failure. Fuses, wiring for the fan, the fan's motor, the fan relay circuits, etc. Good luck.
