what's the widest rims that can go into REAR??

I'm running 19x8... but I'm thinking of changing the rear to 19x9~10.. little wider..

I'm not talking 'bout who has the widest rims...I'm wondering what's the widest rims that can go into rear so that it looks little wide..

cuz i'm doing custom flare job.. and after that, my rims will look go inner.. so.. i don't konw if i should get a wheel spacer or just change the rims..

let me know.

thanks

edit: should i change the offset then?? it's 42+ now.. then.. if i wanna make it like 1.5~2in wider, what should i go w/?

theoretically you can run 10847209742 size youll just stick out like crazy and wont be able to drop your car more then 1.5 inch lol

ybut if you want to tuck it you can prob get away with an 8.5 with a low offset

2. This is stupid

lol you can run staggered wheels on fwd

is that just a rule you made up ?

last i checked regardless of what wd you are you can put any wheels on in the world that you care for as long as they fit properly. Granted the offset is going to be different for the front and rear due to width of the wheel and amount of dish etc, etc. it can still be done cleanly and make a fwd look very nice without killing performance to much

no.

its a fact.

its on page 5 of "Stupid Shit not to Do [Volume IV]"

sorry nippon, but this is just silly... if you are going widebody then do the front too and get wider on both

I know what your sayin Nippon... our wheels camber in the rear so it looks like the wheel sits into the wheel well more than the fronts if you look down the side of the car.

I wouldn't get wider rims in the back or you can't rotate the wheels. But wheel spacers will work 5 - 10 mm make sure you get hub centric wheel spacers (Eibach or H and R) or the shop won't be able to balance your wheels.

No, I didn't make it up.

However, I'm going to give this one to ya. I shouldn't have said you "can't" do it, b/c frankly you can do w/e you want to until you run out of money.

What I should have said was that it was not a good idea. You'll get MAD understeer. If he doesn't care about performace, then go ahead - it will look pretty mean from the rear.

I think it's stupid b/c: You now have to buy new rims. Lots of new understeer (on an already understeer happy car). Can't rotate tires. You'll now go though two sets of fronts for every time you change the back. You could do some suspention mods to counteract the understeer, but thats even more money. For all that you could just go buy a RWD car with huge fat rear tires.

don't bother....
no reason for a 1st gen FWD car to have 275 series tires on the rear

the VW people have been doing this staggered set up for years, and it just boggles my mind. All it will do is slow you down and give you MORE understeer.
