a bunch of us are installing a set of DC headers on my car at the next area meet, and i was curious as to what hte typical gains were. I already have an intake (no exhaust).

What kind of HP gain should i expect?

What kind of improvement in sound should i expect?

not much.... 5 maybe? i hear you loose a little low end torque but gain in high end acceleration/.. but it workes even better hen you get exhaust.....

 

with my cam gear, i could probably advance timing a bit to help low end torque, or delay the timing to make the high end even better

 

the biggest gain i got from my dc 4-2-1 header besides weight reduction is all the low end i lost to my cai and catback was regained to the way it was stock or better. there was aslo a bumo in mid to high rpms. on dynos i've seen ave 6 peak hp and about 2-3 throughout most of the powerband. i feel it was worth all $300 for em.

 

How do the v6 guys get gains of 20hp out of JUST headers???? What make a difference of gains if one has a 4cly and 6cly??? I don't understand.

 

i just got some on bout 3 weeks ago and i like them. i get alot more power out of 3rd and its sounds like a beast with the HKS catback.

 

The V6 headers are mad restrictive. And the 2.2/2.3 engines are mad weak.

 

ill have to agree my hks likes them as well along with the aem cai. i should get a sound clip revin my shit. if it only went as fast as it sounds it does.

 

the V6 has two headers the I-4 has one header....2 headers are better than one...no pun intended

how is the sound without exhaust? anyone? stronger than just with CAI?

 

i actually got my CAI first, Header, Cat, exhaust, venom400 one by one... herez my quick experience
1.) CAI (increased power only in the high rpms)
2.)Header (great accelarations low/high rpms)
3.)Cat (Noticed a significant increase in torque)
4.)Exhaust (slight increase in power in both low/high rpms slightly more noticable than CAI
5.)Venom400 (garbage)

are you a 4cyl or V6?

 

Any of you guys want a chromed header for a 4 cylinder 2.2 for $100. Bought it a few months ago, but ended up I didn't need it cuz i traded 1genCL for my camber kit. I've got pics if you want. cltyper@hotmail.com

 

What kind of cat you buy? What's the name brand? Also did you have to do any mods to make it work on our cars???

 

headers ... ya i got those ... there perdy i really didnt notice much u'll notice the hole i/h/e setup when u actually have the hole setup .... im lackin the exhaust so theres really not to drastic of a difference ....

speakin of exhaust anyone sellin ??
