Wanna' make sure
I get the right AEM intake for my car. I saw one on Ebay, but it was for a honda 94-97 4 cyl. (My CL is a 98 3.0).
The AEM site only shows intakes for CLs for 2001 + not a 98. I want to make sure I get the right one. I assume I should get the bypass while I'm at it. Correct? Also, what's the difference between short ram and regular (other than length)?
I just am wondering what intake most people have for their 98 3.0's and what fit best. Anything else I should know?
Thanks.

You need the CAI for the 1998-2002 Accord V6/2001+ CL (non-Type S)/2000+ TL (non-Type S).
IMO: The by-pass valve is a waste of money. Unless you decide to drive through a lake (and completely submerge the filter), you'll be fine.
With a short ram, your engine will continue to suck in the hot air under your hood.
I've been using a 2-piece generic CAI (which works just as well as any name brand), but swapped it out for an AEM CAI because it looks soooooooo much better!

Easy install. Take the stock box out, like 4 screws at the bottom, and remove all the junk connected to it. Turn your wheel and pull out the resonator andyour ready for the install. The rest is basically common sense. But like Dust said, for the 98-02 accord V6. Anything around $180 is a good price for a new one. I have a two piece, but its still nice, and carb legal.

Thanks. Found one for $184. It's on it's way. What is the resonator? Part of the old intake system? I assume I get rid of it along with the old filter etc.
Thanks again!

Hey!
What about us 2.3 guys?
What is the model number of the AEM cai?
I know, I know... 'search'.
wait... no bypass valve? is that overrated?
what about 3-5 inches of water, if the streets flood?

woodek: The resonator is the black plastic piece that sits and connects under the stock air box. It is a tube that sucks air from the engine compartment, rather than where the CAI's do, behind the bumper. Dont throw it out, keep it for when you sell the car. A Sensei: Model number, dunno, but for the accords 94-97 fits. The bypass, i am a hater of them as well. The purpose is to prevent hydrolock, which is when water is sucked into the engine. The baypass stops this, but only if the filter is completely sumbmerged, havig no air to pull into the intake manifold. I never see these conditions where i am from, so its unecessary. The bypass also makes you cut into your one piece intake to install, and reduces horse power gains on both models.

I know it sounds crazy, but could the CAI possibly void my aftermarket warranty, if I had my car serviced with the CAI installed? Just wondering......Not that I'm paranoid or anything...........

What I want to see somebody do is a before and after dyno for the bypass to actually see how much the bypass loses hp if any at all. I bet it will be less than 2 hp.
