Vtec prob?

Latley i have noticed that sometimes when i go above 4k rpm's that the vtec kicks in then out and in again ...It never has done this before. Hard to really explain but sounds as if it turns on and then off and on again... its weird. any input would be appreciated, thanks.

5500

well check if it happens before 5500 RPMs cause if it does it has nothing to do with VTEC since it only kicks in after that RPM

mines around 3800rpm. ur timing could be off by like 2deg. causing the vtec controller to think its giving too much. have ur timing checked. or do it ur self w/a gun. if thats fine then check ur plug wires and plugs.

my vtec kicks in at 3500 rpm's. it hasnt been happening latley. I hope its not teh tranny, now would be a horrable time for that to happen. If it does im going to look into one of those bullet proof ones i guess? im going to get my tranny flushed and my oil changed soon. thanks for the info.

naw stock 3.0's kick in earlier than the 2.3/3's..with my intake and exhaust you can perfectly hear it kick in at 3500 exactly every time.

WRONG!!!!!! its just your intake and exhaust makes alot of power(and noise) from 3500 and up vtec does not kick in until 5500 unless you have some sort of modification.

hey red...haas...he's right, on the 3.0's its ~3500rpm. the sound is VERY distinguished on the 3.0's. i think even the 2.x's start around 4500rpm.
