VTEC Malfunction

I took delivery of the car Friday the same day I had my wisdom teeth out so I did not get a chance to drive her until Saturday (and drive her I did ) but the problem is my VTEC refuses to go on. Is it possible that the dealer put crappy gas in it and therefore the VTEC will not engage because of that or should I bring it back to them and just tell them to fix it. (I have a 3rd party 6mo. warranty)

You don't have a DOHC so your not going to have a VTEC engage like an Integra or Prelude.

i speak from experience. before i bought my cl, i had a 96 civic lx. after driving my friends brand new 01 prelude, i said shit, i need to get a car with VTEC. so I figured the cl was nice and when i lifted the hood and saw the word VTEC on the engine cover, i was like, ok, now i can hang with the big boys. boy, was i ever wrong. no feel in the VTEC changeover, no rush , no nuthin,. i was so pissed. SOHC blows. your VTEC isnt malfunctioned, its just non-existent.

I've never been beaten by a civic. it's either I win or a draw. even stock teggys.

now that i have intake and the header, i can hang with an si, but i cant pass it. they go pretty good modded those little fockers. i almost bought one as a project car for 6 grand. it was an 00 si in black, mint condition with only like 55k miles or so. i was gonna buy it "for my wife" () but she wasnt buyin it.

Yeah I've had my i/e since like the first month with the car, so never really had a
stock race.

usually the cause of no vtec engagement is low oil pressure. check the oil level and check for leaks. if thats not the case then its the vtec solonoid.

All you 2.x guys sound weak. You can feel the VTEC changeover in a 3.0.

You can't really compare sohc vtec to dohc vtec. It's all about the extra cam.
