VA light laws

Since I have a first gen I thought I would vent here.
I had a trooper in a parking lot tell me to take out my blue light bulbs in the front of my car. I have hyper-white bulbs in my sides and clear turn lenses, which the bulb is a blue in color and I have yellow turn signals. I told him they were a white light when turned on at night and he told me he didn't care "I am looking at them right now and they are blue." So I look up every code in Va (46.2-1010 - 46.2-1040) and I cannot find anything about the color of a ground clearance or side parking lights. He told me they have to be yellow or amber, when my side lights from the factory are clear bulbs. Last week tinted window ticket, this week lights. wtf
I know there is a few guys here from Va and I was wondering if anyone had this happen to them or know the code that says a hyper-white light is illegal? The only thing I found that is close was for (46.2-1020) and that was for emergency lights flashing or steady burning on non comerical vehicles were illegal. Hyper-white I thought was a white light. I e-mailed the State Police and they won't return my e-mail. Just courious while pissed off here at work.

Know what you mean

I know what you mean about the troopers, they always say some shit you don't want to hear. Probably the best way to get a response is to call your DMV, and ask them. Or if that doesn't work, instead of emailing call the police dept. and ask. Half the time when you email stuff like that they won't answer.

Really sound like you're havin' some bad luck with the VA cops! Go to the DMV and ask for a copy of the VA Motor Vehicle Regulations. They have to provide you a copy. It may be on-line, but I don't know where you would get the address.

Yea I thought hyper-white was DOT approved to run on your car. This was in the middle of the day he said they are blue. I may change them to all light yellow just to see what it looks like dunno.
My tint is 30% all around, VA has 50 front 30 rear by what this officer told me. Another officer told me I could paint my rear glass black as long as I had two outside mirrors. So who knows, I got a ticket anyway.

I know that the state laws are posted somewhere online but I'm not sure where. My dad is a cop in VA so maybe I'll ask him. I don't have much trouble with my cops here in the area but then again the only thing illegal on my car is no front tag.

I got them from Autodynamic

Can't you fight these tickets and go to court, kinda like with speeding tickets? Yea, thats why I am trying to find out the specific code myself. I was just warned at the gym, but he has been kinda a dick this week ever since. Cops don't want to hear the laws from civilians. We are never right to them.

Here is where to look up any VA code COV Thanks for the replys

While we're on the subject... NJ inspections are one, if not the toughest, inspections to pass as far as i'm concerned... I went to the inspection station with the clear bumper lenses (i temporarily put the orange bulbs in for the turn signals)... Had all blue bulbs, look white when lit... Had Plasma Blue PIAA H3's in my fogs... It was night-time of course...

To make a long story short... The guys were actually laughing, saying that the aftermarket lenses aren't legal... BLAH BLAH BLAH... Just before he failed me, I had him get the manager... I passed- who's laughing now... He said that white is legal... Besides, don't the 240sx's come stock with all clears?

Sorry about the tickets-

The same thing happened to me when I got my car inspected in January. They said I had to change my blue turn signals, headlights, and a license plate trim I had on. Needless to say I ended up just taking it to a place where my friend goes and gave the guy a case of beer in exchange for a sticker, not a bad deal
The clear bumper lenses arent illegal, they just have to have the correct color bulbs in them.

Sup yall, I've been driving with hyper white everything for about 6 months now on both of my cars and have never been pulled over and I have 20 % tint on my Jetta. I just got a ticket for improper lane change and the cop didn't say anything about the hyper whites. Va has the the most uptight cops anywhere, I was just down in Ft.Lauderdale and cops are so f***in cool, some have hyper white lights on their crown vics. No just playin, but they don't give a f about lights, VA is real sticklers.

the only thing you can do is make sure your lights are off if a cop is around, especially when you get pulled over, not saying it happened to you, but in the long run, if you or anyone else reading this gets pulled over make sure you turn of your lights right away.
