usdm h22 vs jdm h22 please help

ok so I am thinking about putting one in my CL
Im getting a pretty good deal on a h22a4(usdm)
my question is why do people prefer the JDM one instead of the USDM
I know that the JDM one has 20 more horsepower and a higher compression ratio and it pulls a bit harder but is there any major reason why people just dont use the USDM one
and my last question is that would it be easier putting in the h22a4 since it is OBD2
btw im getting the engine+tranny+ecu+wiring harness and whatever else I need
thanks in advance

Holy smokes batman why didn't I think about using google.
I was looking for a more "personal reason" as to why a person who decided to go the Jdm route did so.
Maybe a reason like it's a pita to install the usdm motor as opposed to the jdm motor.
But hey thanks for nothing. I will just head on over to the accord forum where people are actually helpful and don't have 4200 posts because all they do is sit around and tell others to use google

1st u should do the search then ask more ?'s. If the jdm has 20 more hp and pulls harder then well there's ur answer.

But hey enjoy your stay over there maybe ull be more happy. Sorry u couldnt find ur answer here. Me personally I wouldnt put a h22 in my cl. I would leave that to the accord boys(sure we are basically the same but hey not all the way ill take my cl over a accord any day). If I ever did a sawp i'd do what cocoa did and smoke some cats lol.

the answer is price.. JDM Motors are cheaper. But the install process and smog issues will make or break ur decision.

read my thread, the links on there has all the info u need..

https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-cl-1997-1999-56/my-h22-writeup-485935/

If your purchasing an entire front clip or junked Prelude, you will have a lot easier time than i did..

Gluck!

cry me a fookin river. just cuz you dont find your answer here doesnt mean you cant look elsewhere for your answers.

re-read your intial post. you answered your own question.

if you think doing a swap is easy, keep your existing motor.

and as for me "sitting around telling people to google". not alot of 1st gen cl owners done this. where are they suppose to get the info from? your @ss?

and finally, 4200+ posts. try reading some of my posts/threads.

any other questions, feel free to direct them to me and ill make sure to put together a tutorial on how to use the internet.

Personally I would just buy whichever is the best bang for the buck. If I found the cheapest USDM setup to be $1200 and I found the cheapest JDM setup to be $2000, 20hp and "madJDMtiTEyo!" is not worth $800 of my money. As for people not using the internet properly as a tool... stop being lazy please.

If you buy the engine from an importer like hmotorsonline.com, the USDM and JDM models are usually the same price. Also, take into account that JDM motors are rated higher partly because they use a different system for rating power. If you plan on building the motor, it doesn't matter if the JDM version has slightly higher compression or better internals since you'll likely change them out anyways. Also, you have a better chance of knowing the exact mileage of a US motor while the JDM ones are typically undocumented unless you buy the whole front clip.

i personally bought my JDM H22 because it most likely would have lower miles than a USDM motor not to mention a warranty.
