I am far from a car stereo expert so I need a little help here. My stock 2.2 CL system just isn't getting it done for me anymore, but is it worth it to upgrade??? I don't want a loud system that can be heard from blocks away. I just want something with a smooth bass that has some punch. A system that is crisp and clear sounding even with the windows down at highway speeds. If any one thinks it is worth the upgrade, any sugestions would be helpful.
Also I am just looking to upgrade speakers and head unit.

Get a nice high powered head unit that gives you all the options you are interested in, then get nice aftermarket, quality speakers and replace them. Simplest way, and the results are much better than your stock system.

If you want to go the next step higher then get a good headunit and an amp to power a component system in all the stock openings.
