Amp mounting
Amp mounting
I am going to install my head unit that I took out of my CRX when I sold it. A Pioneer DPH-7300 (I think). I have a RCA pre-out for my amp. Can I run the RCA cable straight back underneath the rear seats? Does anyone know of a good way the run RCA's in the car? Also, if anyone had pics that would help a lot.
I ran it under the carpet beside the door and shoved it under the panel next to the back seats. Then I just shoved the cable in beside the seat back. If you go to the trunk and pull back the carpet that is covering the rear shock tower you should be able to see it. Then when you get it through go back inside and tuck it under the seat. Easy, just remember to run your power and RCA/speaker lines on opposite sides of the car.

Be careful with these cars... if the Bose system lurks in your car, you're gonna have to do a little more than just put a deck in. Theres a seperate amp in the trunk for the speakers... and Bose uses weird combinations of odd ohms and amount of power... so If the car has Bose in it... look out... major headache unless you want to change everything. If you just want to change the deck, go ahead... get a wirring harness and plug it in, but then you are going to have to bypass the factory amp by cutting and splicing wires in the trunk... its not too bad, I have a diagram for the plug on the amp and it makes it very simple to remove the amp. Then to run your patch cord, i found the best way is to keep it on the oppisite side of the car from the power cable, and protect it with poly-vinyl split loom, then it looks like stock wirring and it is well protected. Just pop the few trim pieces off, place it under the carpet and tie it up to the other factory wires already there with some wire ties. Make sure to avoid all sharp edges, to avoid chafing... it is also a good idea to run the power cable in the split loom as well, you dont want a 4 gauge wire shorting out... theres a possible fire! If you dont have the bose system... then I just wasted a lot of typing, but oh well... let me know if you need more help. Good luck.
