Update on the rod knock

Well it's been about a week since i first heard the noise and so far it's still running. It's burning oil and i think i may even smell coolant. I know the engine's running hotter since i can hear the exhaust cooling down when the cars shut off, but it's not overheating (the fans are cycling more though). It hasn't started to misfire yet which is a good thing, and so far i can still take it 5500 rpm with no problems .

I drive 12 miles round trip to work and it's all straight highway lol. I am by no means taking it easy. I continue to drive it just like i always do. I steady chill at 80mph, downshift when passing or getting on the ramp, and I completely raged it when i was late this morning, dodging and weaving through traffic lol. I just turn the radio up and keep cruising.

At one point in this vid, i take it to about 3500-4k rpm. you can hear the noise go away, but there's something funky going on in there if you listen carefully.

So how long you guys think it will last? haha. I say at least another week. Anyway I'll update with a new video every few days til she pops.

haha....no.

By the end of the week, I'll know exactly what I'm doing. Either a JDM F20B swap, or I might actually get a 2009 Jetta 2.0t Wolfsburg Edition. My job has some nice employee incentives on all 2009 at the moment. I don't really like the MK5 VW's too much ,but if that ends up being the case (which it probably won't), the car will be sold as is, all except the Pioneer Z1.

Thats cool... after reading your other post you got me wanting to spend the money on that RSR system. Problem is I dont really need it because my factory exhaust is holding up fine. Oh well, keep us updated on the crazy engine sounds...

i know. i work on these things everyday. you should try to get one of these things on a lift, or do an alignment. It's the biggest pain in the ass. Alot of the Vee dubbers are worse then the Honda ricers. It amazes me sometimes

Yeah my friend is a big dubber and always makes fun of me because I drive a Honda... Then I just make fun of him with all of his electrical problems and motor problems etc. And also don't forget to make fun of them for their low-slung oil pans prone to getting demolished when lowered.

thats money in the pocket son!

I had to repair some dude's B5 Passat that was super slammed on KW full coilovers, who hit a raised manhole cover. The guy snapped all his EVAP/fuel lines, punctured the trans pan, broke his down pipe in half, and demolished the oil pan. Along with the bent 19" TSW wheel, that was the most fucked up thing i ever seen happen from being slammed.
