Question Tune-up in Toronto

Okay I think it's safe to say I need a tune up on my 97 cl 2.2, I bought it with 150kms on it, it now has 170kms a year later, anyone recommend a place to bring it in the GTA, Toronto?

Also, what am I looking at to spend on a regular maintenance tune-up?

Also, im looking into getting my baby rustproofed, and minor rust spots taken care of, any recommendations?

tHanks!

its actually pretty damn easy to do a tune up...i remember when i was a i thought it was hard to but i tried it and it was easy as shit....

if your not sure about working on your car ask one of your buddies to help you out, cuz its not worth letting a shop charge you for simple work...

on your 4 cyl it should be fairly easy. just change the plugs and air filter. for the fuel filter I wold take it to a mechanic though. What else is there to change for a tune up?

tune ups are pretty standard, i think u can get it at almost every mechanic... for rust proofing i suggest krown , a while back they had a group buy thing with toronto accords and toronto civics.. where it was 89 dollars for full body rust proof... i dont know if they still have it..

Careful with that rustproofing, the place might say they need to make the existing rust inert, ie. so as to not trap moisture under the undercoating material, and quote you $300.

I used to live in the Toronto area (the clunker I brought out to Calgary didn't last long), anyway, I've seen lots of older cars with rust proofing stickers that look as bad as any.. I wouldn't personally bother with it, with a car of the age of yours. I had rubberized undercoating done one year and it comes off over time.

Do the tuneup stuff yourself.. plugs are easy just make sure you get the right socket.

Fuel filter is a pain in the ass, my mechanic said..

Oxygen sensor doesn't need to be done until almost 200,000 km I think, and you have to take it out when it's hot.

These cars don't really need tune ups.. they tune themselves up. Fuel filter and O2 sensor have done at the garage maybe...

I think I'm going to skip the undercoating this year.. washing the car often also helps

Some of the adjustments that were done with a tune up procedure in the past are no longer necessary with most cars. Idle speed and timing for example are both computer controlled and mechanics don't really have to look at this. My car has never been on a scope, and won't be until I experience driveability problems.
