Trunk Question - Please Help

Looking in (at) my trunk for the first time this morning I noticed
something that just doesn't look right. Could you guys help me determine if something is missing here?

When I open the trunk lid, at the very bottom there is 3 or 4
1/4" holes, evenly spaced. It looks like either a rubber moulding
should be all along the bottom edge and it is held in by some kind
of push in plug into these holes, OR, each of these holes should have a small, round rubber bushing that acts as a "bumper" when the trunk lid is slamed shut.

I just can't tell by looking and since there aren't that many CL's around for me to look at, I am hoping that someone will go take
a look at the bottom of their trunk and let me know whats there.

Thanks, MHM

Are you talking about the bottom of the trunk lid?

Yes, the very bottom of the lid itself. Not the "deck" or part of
the car that is part of the body. When I open the trunk to the
full open position, I see 3 or 4 holes. Is that right?

Thanks so much Dustbuster. While waiting for your pictures I went outside to look again and thought that what was missing were those round "little feet". But you have the same three holes at the end of your lid just as I do. Thanks again.

This car of mine rides so great. Had it up to 85 today (remember I'm an ole fart), but having bought it on E-Bay, it defintely has had some body work around the rear end. Still, I love it, and can't wait for my first mods.

Thanks again. MHM

Good luck with the mods!

My guess is those holes are "drain holes" to allow water to drain out of the trunk lid (from rain or washing it)?

exactly dust... but I think its more for condensation, as those holes lead to the inside of the trunk lid... so water from washing the car or rain "shouldnt" get in there...

Is there a gasket on the bottom of the trunk? The trunk should have an air tight seal... maybe there should be a gasket there....

Speaking of that, my damned rear reverse light has condensation again.

Yes, the gasket is on the bottom portion.

You're right about that!! I still can't believe that Dustbuster4
went outside in the dark, took two pictures of his trunk and then posted them for me to see. Thank You again.

Buy hey, lets not forget all the other guys (and gals) on this forum who more often than not are more than willing to help
their fellow CL'er out.

Hey, you all have a winning week. My week is looking great..

Monday - get registration and tags for my new car
Tuesday - Tinting of windows
Wednesday - Gold plating of emblems

Later, MHM
