transmission woes

Whats'up guys...been a while since I've been on. Since the last time that I've logged on, my brother-in-law and I switched cars. My cl is back in cali now. Well, he called me up today and said that none of the drive gears worked only reverse. The funny thing is that I was just in the Bay Area last week and I took the cl to my old work to get some maintenance done. Everything felt fine, she purred just as I remember her to. He took the car to Acura of Sunnyvale and they told him that they checked all the sensors and that the transmission is shot. My reaction was WTF?!? I told him to get a second opinion but he believes that dealer shops belong to the gods. Just out of curiousity, has anyone ever had this problem before? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, that kid that said CL's were the worst cars ever built by honda....his punk ass needs to be hit by his own car('95 civic ex was it).

Good luck... probably better off going to the dealer... or atleast keeping a HUGE distance between that car and Aamco Transmissions. Took them 9 days to do the transmission, 27 to figure out what the hell they were doing wrong and it's going back in tomorrow because it's grinding again.. I've only had it back since Tuesday afternoon.

Thanks for the input. I talked to my brother-in-law and the dealership that has my car wants $4,000.00 to fix it. Oh yeah, it is a 3.0. Would it bein mybest interest to have the dealer work on it rather than a reputable family business or buying a remanufactures tranny? I asked the dealer about purchasing a new tranny but they told all of what is new is meant for warranty issues.

Going with a dealer comes it's advantages. You will have 1 year plus XX miles of warranty. The down fall is just the pricing. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

FUCK that. Take it to Dr. Evil and get your money's worth if you're going to dump 4k. And while you're at it, go ahead and get a comptech supercharger for it too... might as well since you'll have a built-like-a-fucking-rock tranny under there

4 for a tranny is far too much; i'd go 3 @ the most...good luck, hopefully they'll last you longer than they do me

Thanks for all of your replies. Well, since my wife and I are about to be legally seperated, I will be moving back to Cali. My old boss wants me to work for him again and is willing to let me use our hommie hook up with one of the top tranny shops in that part of the bay. So I should be able to get the pricing knocked down considerably. I like the car too much to just either let it go or even just sit in one place too long.

Update...My brother-in-law just got the car fixed through a shop that belongs to a friend of his. They bought a used tranny and everything came out to about $1800.00 with the hommie hook up price. Now for some bad news, I just signed over my 1990 4 door integra over to my in-laws and the car got stolen three days ago. What sucks is that I just replaced the headlights with the jdm 1 piece, new tires, new radiator, lowered it with progress sport springs, new speakers, deck, clutch, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, full tune up, and had all of the original parts in the trunk. My father-in-law never even thought about taking the stuff out or even removing the battery. Well, atleast one car is has been taken care of. But as fas as the integra goes, I'll be lucky to even get back a the full frame.
