Transmission

What causes our trannys to fail? I have no preformance mods at all and I still had to have my tranny replaced in January and it is back at Acura again becasue it is slipping again? Is our tranny problem related to the 2nd Gen CL tranny problem? Because I thought that was an issue of too much power for the tranny. Also, isnt the 3.0 engine a V6 Accord engine? I have never heard of anyone with an Accord having the problems that CL owners have with their trannys...

Actually, There are a TON of v6 accords that have lost trannies. But one main thing that blows about 90% of auto tranny's is a heat factor, the tranny's get to hot and cook. Another problem is that acura auto tranny's are basically not at all built to be driven the way most people do.

But heat is a main concern. Put on a tranny cooler to be extra safe

I got mine here: http://www.bulkparts.com/

Look under: "Transmission cooler index"; then "HAYDEN Transaver Plus coolers stacked plate".

Choose: Hayden Transaver Plus, medium duty # 1677 Gross vehicle weight to 20,000 lbs. 5 1/2" x 11" x 3/4". Medium duty driving, mid & full size cars & light towing #1677...$37.22
