tranny question

Hello again all

ok...a few weeks ago my tranny took a shit..
i had it fixed..car has been running good.faster and smoother than before and more power etc.but heres the question..
when i start it in the morning and put it into drive while its still cold theres a hard thud it makes..never happened before it got fixed...
its been happening ever since i got it back..some mornings it doesnt do it but others it does..id say 50/50 chance...
the mechanic said to bring it in next time im by the shop..so im guess its something but im not going to the shop for another week or so (i live about 35miles away so ill go when i have another thing to do down there same day in the area)..
it also happens lightly when going into reverse...
BUT it only happens when the car is cold..like turn key..chill for a few seconds and go type of thing..
after its warmed up it doesnt happen anymore for the rest of the day with stops or anything..

any ideas??just so i can have some knowledge prior to going to the shop
i could always sit there for 5-10 minutes and let the car warm up to avoid the thump but i shouldnt have to i dont think hehe

cheers all
