Tranny=Dead..

So i was driving along today, and BAM my transmission went. I was just sitting at a stop light and when i went to go it revved WAAY high in 1st gear and just dropped. It made a scary clunk noise. I then tried to make my way over to the side and it did the same thing. While this happent my speedometer went to 0 and didn't move while my RPM meter went crazy, going from 0-3000 randomly. Then tonight my dad drove it and it did the same stuff. You've got to floor it to even get it going. Plus, it makes a big clunk when you switch to park and whatnot. And going up the hill it made a bunch of popping noises.

I dont know what im going to do at this point. Hopefully the dealer can still cover it.

We are getting it towed to Aamco transmission tommorow. Like i said you have to practically push the pedel to the floor to get it going. Its shifting like shit.

did you try putting it in D1 or D2?

souinds like it's fuxored though. sorry to hear man. that's why I'm getting a dr. evil tranny before my first one even goes out. That way when it does go out, swap and I'm good to go.

Yeah well we were going to try to drive it over to the transmission place and it died after 2 minutes of siting there. So im assuming the Tranny AND the alternator are fucked. I REALLY don't want to have to find a new car but i might have to..

last time I checked, the only reason that anyone could think that is that the 3.0's have a crappy auto tranny, but then again so do the 2.x's. so what, 1 better thing? I like my more power and tq, thank you

btw, I'm just giving you shit since you said "another reason", but it's still the same reason and don't want to turn this into another 2.x vs 3.0 thread.

btw, it may JUST be the alternator. I read a few instances over at another forum (it seems that if I put the name of the forum it will delete it), and a few here, that when an alternator died, all kinds of things started fucking up, but all they had to do was replace teh alternator adn things were back to normal. Don't assume it's the trans, and end up having to pay more than you have to. have them drain the fluid and show it to you, if it's dark dark red, or brown, time for a new trans, if it's still pinkish red then you may just have some electrical problems.

good luck.

I'm only gonna use the fluid for now, i'm not gonna get it rebuilt it costs like half of what i need for the deuce deuce. So i'll wait until it cashes itself. Hoxsie had no idea Ninja tits.

He's right.

When my alternator and battery went out I had very similar problems. If you are sitting close to 75k miles, that might be it. Acura put AC Delco alternators on the CL and they don't last very long. If it is the tranny, I feel for you. I just dumped $2700 into a rebuild from Aamco in April.

Good luck bro

Well apparentley it IS just the alternator. I guess when the electrical went out it was screwing with the computer shift points and whatnot. Its 300$ for a new alternator, but whatever.

I'm going to pick it up today so hopefully everything is OK.
