tiptronic
I've gotta 97 3.0 CL, and I'm very interested in ways of giving this thing more of a performance tranny. In other words, I'm sick of getting beat off the line by civics with manuals because I can't get out of first gear fast enough. Anyone have any ideas how I could give my car something like a tiptronic transmission?
thanks

the tiptronic is the same thing as an automatic except it has a fancy gear shifter. still has the sluggish-ness of an auto. Go with a 5spd conversion. I did one. wasnt hard.

ENGAGE MY VTEC BABY!!!!!!
LCACURA: you may have done one but he has a 3.0 and you might run into tranny problems and complications with getting the right tranny for your engine, from what i have heard on the board since i have been here is that to do the 5spd conversion is VERY EXPENSIVE $$$$$$$$, there is one guy who did do it for the 3.0 but he said it wasnt worth the moeny in the long run cause you may run into problems like he did

Not buying a new car. To me its more admirable to do it the hard way and push this thing to its limits, even if it still won't be the fastest thing on the road.

well in that case, look into a tranny cooler to save the one you already have. Then just build up the engine. A lot of people on here have had great luck with the 3.0 tranny holding up to mods.
