you can have any percentage of tint on the back three windows as long as you have the door side mirrors, you CAN have tint on the front two windows, drivers and passengers but it needs to be 70% visible

i have my car tinted at 20% all around

70% is what that one tint law website told me too, but when I got pulled over for a bitch ass seatbelt ticket, the cop told me that it's illegal in all of Cali to have front tinted windows, and mine are 70% [well at least I think it is] in the front. He also told me that having tint on the front windows aren't a fix-it ticket no more, that it's a $90 ticket or somethin like that. It doesn't really matter though, just do what Klepto said. I've seen hella more cars with tint on the front windows darker than mine drivin around, so if you really want tint all around, do that shit!

BTW, I didn't hear about no meet..

California law for tints is well documented on the state web site (look under driving laws). Nothing on the front windshield is allowed except for a small band on the very top as long as some angle and distance from the driver's face are taken into account. Driver and passenger side windows cannot be less than 70% transmittance. This includes any factory window darkening, so if your car has any tinting from the factory, you have to be careful about what you apply to them. Rear (i.e., non driver) side windows and rear glass can be 5% transmittance.

If any cop tells you otherwise, then he is wrong. I printed out a copy of the specific laws from the state web site and keep it in the car.

I did my car with the 95% tint (5% transmittance) on the rear three glass pieces, but could not do the same on the front side windows legally - So, I went ahead and did the 30% tint (70% transmittance) although the glass was slightly factory "tinted" already. This still looks fine overall, although not as balanced as I would like.

I will say that the 95% on the rear glass became a bit too dark. Made it difficult for me and my wife to recognize cars at night - particularly the ones with the light bars on top! So, on my wife's CL, we went with 50% on the rear glass!

Actually, my car is not a CL - I drive an Infiniti M45, although the tinting I was talking about was my earlier Q45. My wife's car is the CL. She prefers the handling of a smaller car so she got the Acura 2.2 CL almost eight years ago.

Nothing ! It is a stock 2.2CL with very low miles (now at 44k after almost eight years). At the moment, since I have a new car, we are sharing - she gets to drive it every other month and I take the CL. Sometime later this year, she is going to get a new car ... probably another Acura, since she likes the CL she now has.

Unfortunately not ... having a young son at home means that my wife is pretty frazzled by the time I get home in the evening and I need to take over till he goes to sleep. If I tried to go out to Richmond for a meet (and I did not have the excuse of a "gotta go on a business trip, honey"), I would have one heck of an upset woman on my hands!

Although, once a year, my wife and son go out of town to meet grandparents for an extended trip (usually gone 3 to 4 weeks) ... and then I am open for meets, etc.!
