timing belt h2o pump

i'm at 125,000 and haven't changed it. if the belt were to snap --well, i know there are two type of engine setups where if if the belt goes the car just stops, but most are the type where the piston will keep going regardless which isn't good obviously.
am i asking for it by neglecting this?

Ours are the ones where the pistions will safely keep going. So no timing belt. Bye Bye engine 90% of the time.

I'm about to get mine changed out, but i'm not goin to the dealer, thats a straight ass raping. My lube center manager knows how to do all that kinda shit, he said if i buy the parts he ll put it all in for $40 bucks. So that ll save me a lot. I ll probably break him off at least a $100 though, cuz he always takes care of me.

get it done at a dealer. they know how to do it right. it will take all day, that's why the cost is high, lots of labor. i got mine done a little over a month ago. the final bill came out to $745 with tax. believe it or not, that was the cheapest price i could find. another dealer quoted $800, another $999...

fuck dealers they can mess up to just like any private shop can do. The dealers only charge you 300+ on top of a private dealers price.

If you look around you can get some pretty good deals.
At a place near my house you can get this done for around $500:

Replace timing belt
Inspect timing belt tensioner
Replace water pump
Replace coolant
Replace cam & crank seals
Replace alternator belt
Replace compressor belt
Replace power steering belt

It is true, many post on here and in the 2nd generation where the dealer puts in the flywheel backwards, forgets some pieces, etc etc etc. Dealers never worry about losing business because they always have jobs from the dearship (depending on the setup), private ones worry because they depend on word of mouth business more. Shop around at trusted places!!!
