for those on 18s
what series tire?... 35 or 40.
the 225/40-18 isn't that bad but im not lowered yet. yeah it is a lot worse than the 205/55-16 but not super bumpy, just more noisy and you try to avoid those really large pot holes and you try and avoid the smaller ones because you think it might pop your tire or something.
no experience with 35 series but assuming even worse.
No regrets going 40 series though... except my steering wheel shakes on the freeway, but that could be because I didn't get alignment yet.

35 series tires ride harsh. I also have yokohama parada spec II's so it's even worse. They're directional tires. It's loud and stiff. Now that I have coilovers, I love the look. Very low profile. If you get 18's go with 40 series.
i have 225/40/18s on Nitto 555s, they aren't very quiet tires either, but definitely more road noise, and you don't get as much cushion as you would on a 55/16" tire. On really smooth roads you almost don't notice the difference, but where are there really smooth roads?
18's on 40's are a decent ride. Id pick up a set of nitto neo gen's the inside compound is harder so it will wear even if you have - camber. All in all the best tire i've ridden on smooth, quiet, and sticky. If you want to go cheap, get a set of champiro's there the best tire for the money and are sticky even in water. There real quiet also which is a +.
i have 18s racingHart c5s and i got the thinnest tires i could find and on top of that i put in Ebich Pro KIt springs and the ride is decent almost stock...it really depends how low the drop and tires...when i first got the springs w/ my rims i slammed that bitch too the ground and the ride was real rough and jumpy so i raised it up 2 inches and the ride got much much better so it depends...are you plannin on droppin ur car?

but than the 17s would look smaller and taht infact would look horrible, i dont think your right about your assumption.

I think with either 17's or 18's you would have to drop the car. There is just toooooo much gap between the fender and the tire. It wont look right. But if I were you I would go with 18's and then in the future when you come across more $$ invest on some springs!
one of the main reason whyn i dropped my car is becuase of the fugly gap of 18s.....otherwise i would of kept it stock....however when i dropped the car it made it look hella clEEEEEEn..it made a HUGE difference, looks wise....

But even with the pro-kits and stock shocks, I still had a nasty gap.
ok.. I have the 3 Piece Racing Hart M5s and they all have Nitto NT555 on them (225/40/18) and the rims are 18x8. I'm not sure from you guys but my ride is good. The Nittos are soft and they have satisfied me well. Hitting bumps on the road or highway seems nothing.. well of course it depends on how big the bumps are.. but anyways i have no disappointments yet on them.. Nitto's make good tires.. just my opinion

Listen noob. Pro-kits will definitely not slam your car. I have 18's wrapped on 215/35/18. When I put the pro-kits on, I still had a nasty gap because of the low profile tires. I decided to get Tein SS coilovers so I can adjust the height and use the 16 way adjustable dampers. My tires are almost tucking now. It looks really dope.
