Is This Thing For Real??
JUST PICKED UP MY NEW 98 3.0 CL!!! YYEEAAHHHHHHH...
I'm interested in a cold air intake system but was under the impression from most of the posts talking about it that there is no prefabbed cold air intake for our car, rather that everyone has to retrofit other intakes to fit? Is that true? If so, what kind of performance improvement does an intake provide? 20hp? More/Less? Does it make your engine run differently? Louder? Worse gas mileage?
If it is, then what the hell is this thing? I found it at ProCarParts.com. Check it out:
http://www.procarparts.com/store/dis...id=AI-ACU-CLV6
Please let me know if this thing is real or if I'm just a stupid newbie.
Cheers,
-Show-n-Go

What you saw at procarparts is a generic cold air intake. Most likely designed for the Accord, but since it fits the CL, they advertise for it also.
Hope this helps.

Fantastic, thanks. The difference in price is pretty steep, US$223 for an AEM 98-01 v6 Accord intake and bypass valve!!
That's like $400 Canadian with shipping! Stupid Canadian Dollar!!!

Yeah, brand names for the intake itself are a bunch of BS hype! It's a frikin' pipe of aluminum! Go get a generic tube of aluminum intake and then buy a good quality K&N air filter velocity stack style.
You'll be good to go then. Save your $130 Canadian funny money! j/k

YOU can get the same exact one on ebay for like $50
Do a search for V6 Accord intake or 98 Accord intakes

Hey CanadianCL, thanks for your input but we're still talking about like $400 for a measly 7-8 hp boost!
I could probably port and polish the heads for that kind of dough!
By the way, are you in Mississauga? What routes do you usually drive? I'll look out for your car. Mine's a stock Primrose/Silver '98 CL w/the stock 7-spoke rims.

Crap, sorry - I'm being overly patriotic here.
Thanks a bunch to everyone else too (3.0, nomad, etc.) for the help. I gotta stop posting so much.

if all the companys that make the v6 accord 98+ cold air intake have the same bend to it. it doesn't really matter what brand u get, because the performance is gonna be all the same. some might have more bends and stuff so air won't flow so nicely. I recommend aem. it comes with a good k&n air filter and u can add a bypass valve.

Where did you get your clear corners? How much were they? I wanna buy them today if I can.
Also, that Venom 400 chip, does it only richen the fuel/air mixture, or does it also screw with your engine timing?
