terrible weekend...
So, me and 2 of my friends decided we were going to JMU from VT on Friday, just for fun. It's about a 2 hour drive, not terrible. I was cruisin up 81 North and all of a sudden my transmission started slipping like crazy. I noticed I had to feather the throttle to make it catch a gear. Then all of a sudden, it wouldnt catch any gear, CEL came on, smelled something burning...I was like fuck, we were in Greenville, VA, NOTHING around but woods, and one gas station. It's about 30 minutes from JMU. I managed to make it catch 1st and 2nd but my revs were freakin out, bouncin up and down. Had it towed back to Tech, sucked though, cause I had to go with the guy and he kept falling asleep at the wheel. Aamco is pulling the CEL code tomorrow. I'm 99.9% sure it's the tranny but my friends and my dad are telling me it could be a sensor or a computer error. Now, I highly doubt that but I hope that's all it is..otherwise I don't have a car, and I don't have any money..
Cliffs:
Tranny takes a shit on short roadtrip.

Shop just called, it pulled the code P0715: Input Turbine/Speed Sensor Malfunction, which is basically my tranmission input speed sensor. They said a rebuild would cost ~$1500 but I asked them to pull that sensor first and maybe replace that first. Does anybody know if it's inside the transmission? Easy fix?
wait you were going to Vermont.
that place sucks. something bad always happens to me when i go there, i got aressted last time.
i always thought you had a stick??? good luck man.

yeah just get a trans for the rest of college which doesnt seem like it should be too much longer since your 21. then once you get a degree and graduate im sure you can get a nice new car. thats stick lol
I'll be honest with you guys. The car has 180,000 miles on it, it's just not worth it. The car is worth maybe $2000. I'm looking at 5th gen accords right now (5speed of course) so I can just drop all my current mods into that. I've had it with automatic transmissions, I'm debating whether or not I'm going to part out the CL this summer or turn it into a project car. My buddy is going to tow it from VA to NJ for mad cheap, now I just need to drive it from the shop to campus. Hopefully nothing else explodes.
P.S. I'm a 3rd year sophomore, I graduate in 2010(hopefully), I got a ways to go...

So, I drove it back to campus today. It seems to drive alright in 3rd gear...I just can't floor it or it slips and I bounce off rev limiter. Now, thing is, I have no way of getting back to NJ. It's about a 6-7 hour drive from here to home and I was wondering, it's not the best idea, but it's my last resort; could I drive my car at about 60-65 mph for that long with my busted up transmission? I'd just keep it in 3rd the whole time. It doesn't have a 4th gear but like i said, it works OK up to 3rd gear.
I drove it for about 20 minutes today. My buddy would tow it for me and only charge me for gas so it wouldn't really be expensive. It would just be a huge hassle for the both of us this summer.
3rd gear is gonna kill you on gas mileage. but its going to be scary as hell knowing any moment it could go and take out the rest of the tranny, i say tow it because you're gonna end up towing it anyways.
