TAKING OUT THE WOOD!

i have seen a few posts about the cheesy wood grain type crap in our cars and people wanting to replace it with chrome, brushed alum, paint, etc...

well i can sadly report that the wood does not come out of the cl's without a fight.

even though we managed to get it all out and painted (pics coming very soon!) we would not recommend it to anyone! every piece of wood is held on by screws that thread into the wood from the other side!!!!!!!!!!

doors: need to remove the panels

sunroof: 2 screws almost impossible to access without removing half the dash.

center dash: mostly pop clips, but there are 2 screws around the climate control computer that are literally impossible to remove without removing the dashboard or the c.c.c.

around shifter: all clips, except for 2 screws at the base corners (closest to rear) that hold it down to the floor.

we did manage to get everything out, but we will not release the info until the parts are replaced. pics will follow. we have searched everywhere and have determined that we might just be the first company to mod a CL interior to this extent, and we would like that honor. so hang in, we'll let you guys be the first to know how to do it!

later peeps!

Now that you put it that way, I can see how the wood would throw the new look off

Yes pics please! I like the wood grain in the car, so I am going to try and work with it by trying to match every with it. But, I really do want to see some pics. Maybe you can change my mind.

Damn, if I could get my hands on all those pieces, I could get them done in carbon fiber. I need the parts to make the molds from. Maybe I'll have my stereo/interior place pull it all when I get my CL (if I can ever find a white 98 3.0)

Folia Tec has the carbon fiber film that you can custom cut to fit where you want it.
