if I am not mistaken (I have never done it myself) the switch wires (you hooked up) go through the firewall and in the engine compartment. It may have a end on it where you can plug a opposite plug into it if you had the factory fog light harness (to the fog lights) but if you don't you can just splice into that plug with the new wires thats supplied with your fog lights and them work like they did from the factory. I hope this wasn't to confusing but thats how I understand it

as I said I haven't done it this way and when I wired the ones I had on mine up I didn't use the factory harness at all. I would think you would need a factory wire harness from engine compartment to fog lights but don't know where you would find one because there wasn't very many 1st gen's with factory fogs (as a matter of fact I have only seen one and its on this board). Don't know if you can get it at the dealership or not
