Suggestion on Tires?

I'm new to this site and I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on brand/type of tires to replace my OE Michelin Energy MXV4's.

I have a stock 99 cl 2.3 manual. I have 70K miles on the Michelin's, but I have been sliding in the rain since 15k. I'm lucky I have wrecked.

I'm looking for some good wet traction/snow/ride/handling tires.

Anyone have the new MXV4 Plus? or Dunlop SPort a2?

thanks

Your lucky you wrecked???... or did you mean to say that your lucky you did NOT wreck?...

Now to your question... Head over to www.tirerack.com
See what is in your price range and go from there...

Everything depends on what you really use your car for... Daily driver, race, how the roads are in your area..etc.

I know I will never buy another tire other than the Bridgestone Potenza SO3's.... they are awesome.. and they make them in 17in size too... i think..LOL...

The Bridgestones are GREAT tires... I have them for my '98 2.3 CL and got a set for my daughter's Paseo (mounted on 14" VW alloys). handle great and should last a long time.

I just put on dunlops sp A2 on mine. bought them from sears for about 105 buck each. so far i think they are awesome. i drove them on ice covered roads going on the interstate at 60mph. not one slip. i had dunllps on my honda prelude before and they were really good then. that's my opinion.

The Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's are a popular choice for their performance (dry and wet) and price.

I have some bridgestone Potenza RE-950s and love them. They handle much better in the rain and on dry pavement plus they are quieter than the Mics. Oh they look cool too

If your looking for a great all around tire I would recommend the Dunlop SP Sport A2. For winter tires I would highly recommend Goodyear Ultra Grip GW-2.

The Goodyear Ultra Grip GW-2 are great on ice/slush/snow. I have had mine on for about 5k now and they are just great for the ice/slush/snow combo friving that I've had to do.

Like Smitty said, check out tirerack.com There's a lot of helpful reviews on the site. I have Yokohama AVS ES100's ($76. each) which I picked because of the reviews at tirerack and I'm very happy with them. Also, after looking around even more on that site, the Yokohama Parada Spec 2's (check out: www.yokohamatire.com/04b2.html) are supposed to be really good as well, which I think I will get next time. I was thinking of Potenza's but they were too pricey and also Kuhmo's but I've read the treadlife isn't very good. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I have Dunlop SP Sport A2 and thought they had good grip in the rain and even on snowy roads. I didn't rotate them though and they wore down sort of fast. Guess i learned my lesson. I only recently noticed some sliding in the rain. Understeer on sharp corners while giving it power, very recoverable though and due to me giving too much power for the rainy conditions.

They resist hydroplaning well and look good.

I may buy the same ones again but i'm looking around too.
Problem is that other tires have good rain grip but crap winter slushy/snow-on-road grip. The A2's never gave me problems but I wouldn't drive them into a 2ft snow drift though.

Def check out tire rack. A good tire for your money on there are the pirelli p7000, the tread looks bad ass on them too. Othr than that kuhmo 712's are the way to go.
