Stocker Sound
Stocker Sound
Hey all ye with hotter cars than I. I have an Acura 3.0CL Premium, and it has the stock bose sound system. I like it...but I like my music big time. I am wondering how does the bose compare to aftermarket? Like, is the Bose on par with, better than, or worse than a 250-300 dollar pioneer deck. And I hear Bose makes great speakers? Would Pioneers or Inifinitys be better?? Thanks, I asked my best buy guy, but he didnt know anything.
bose makes great products. if i were you, i would keep that in mind before messing with anything.
personally, my bose stereo in my CL sounds better than any system ive had in any car. it doesnt knock hard, but its just so damn clear.

most will tell ya that you can leave the stock speakers in and swap out the head unit for one with more customizable sound settings and it will sound better. people that have done that will usually tell you that they hear a great improvement.

the components are fine, get a nice aftermarket deck to pump more power into them, makes the slap harder and crisper.
dont go with subs tho. i mean unless you're not going the performance route. i've had subs in 2 previous cars, and i've kinda outgrown them... its nice to hit the mountains without having to worry about 100lbs of shit in your trunk.

If only the stock HU could power a decently sized sub, I would be happy
edit: btw I dont have the "Bose" system either
compared to a stock honda system bose is the shit, compared to the aftermarket the stock bose is shit.when i think of bose i think of home entertainment centers that are quality.there are so many better CAR audio brands/quality.what does the bose amp put out .0000001 watts?..........

i personally could not see spending several hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on a sound system that already works great. i would take that money and either A) buy performance parts (which are negligable when it come to the CL) or B) buy some nice looking wheels, because anyone who knows anything will appreciate them way more then a really ghetto, thumping sound system. that shit is for kids anyways.

If you're putting an aftermarket deck, expect to blow the paper cones sooner than later. Trust me I went through 2 pair of blose 6x9's and a pair of 6.5's before I installed all new speakers
Stock Bose system is a joke compared to so so aftermarket stuff. Just Get the cheapest alpine headunit, quality amp like jl audio or any other major maker, and nice component set for front and rear. if you dont want to spend a lot of mula, get infinity kappa components, they are great for the money... if you would like high quality get something like adire audio, focal, high end mb quart and so on. for the bass, nothing touches DD (digital designs) even the lowest class some from DD kickes ass like no other

Ghetto, thumping sound system????? Your Bose system probalby does not go below 55 hz, when many songs go down to low 20hz range. Youve never heard a reall sound system, if you think that bose is super clear. And for the bass, nobody says to overload it, but just getting a small sub will make your music go alive. Your bose system, is like having a cheap home theater system without a sub.

Blose sucks especially the "premium bose" crap that our CL's came with
i feel the same way Jonno Ks
the Bose system is fine for me, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere
obviously, some people are less satisfied with the Bose system, and those people satisfy themselves with aftermarket equipment
except for the headunit, which i already replaced, i personally couldnt convince myself to go aftermarket unless my system goes ahead and "blose"

If you haven't blown the blose yet and aren't worried about it, don't worry about it till you have to, I had blown so many stock speakers from powering off my hu and bypassing the stock amp, that I needed all new speakers that could handle more juice
new development
I checked it out. My left front speaker is blown, I think. No sound is coming out whatsoever. If I get aftermarket speakers, will they make sound, or is my connection fucked. Im scared. Im definitely getting a nicer pioneer deck and maybe some pioneer speakers in back infinity in front? IDK, it sounded like the bass was coming more from the font speakers than the 6x9s.

get alpine deck, and infinity speakers or mb quarts, both choices are good for the money. Make sure you get components.
Also your connection should be fine, its most likely just the speakers couldnt handle it and blew
hey i got a question for all you that changed the deck how you bypass the amp for bose. i got the "premium" bose with the separate amp in the trunk. Did you guys run new wiring to your speakers or did you just do some splicing in the trunk?
would there be any benefit to running new wires if im gonna get a amp but prob max power to each speaker will be like 100 watts max either that or maybe just a alpine deck with the vdrive amps in it to run the speakers.

You can power the speakers from the stock wires, that's what I did at first when I put my speakers in, the amp and the wiring is coming for more power
quit hijacking my thread. new development, went to best buy, they say with the bose system id need all new wiring, and on top of that, the stock speakers are at a different ohm level, so if i want a new head i need all new speakers.

Best buy sucks, they're so full of shit. I did all my own installs so I can tell you from experience, all you have to do is either bypass the amp by splicing the wiring harness wires together, OR run a remote trigger from your head unit to the stock amp and leave it all intact. Search on here, you'll find how to do both.
Best Buy. They're just tryin to sell you all new speakers and installation
Hey if I were to chage out my speakers I would look at the JL Audio subs and for seprates or components I would get MB Quartz! I had those in my integra and man they rocked!! My peeps would say it sounds like i am live at a concert when i am in your ride!!

best buy does suck, but they might be right about the ohmage, although it will play with stock speakers whem ohms are different but at one point when you turn it up, you gonna fry it or it will just distort a lot
