Stock tyre specs
Anyone know the full brand name and specification of the 1999 Acura CL 3.0? I thought they were Michelin Radial X52 205/55 R16 but the dealer is insisting they were Firestones.

cheers guys!
I burst two tyres this weekend, and I'm looking for replacements. Cant afford bigger rims or anything bling.
Anyone have a recommendation for solid 16 inch tyres? My stock ones were ace -- they gave me good speed and traction for 40K miles on punishingly hot mexico roads.

Check out Tire Rack (www.tirerack.com) ... they have a comprehensive listing of tires that will fit. Personally, I want good wet weather traction, so my choice is the Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP. Note that it is a bit on the expensive side and is being discontinued in the near future. I am also considering trying the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (although the cost is again kinda high) or the Bridgestone Fuzion (new model).
FWIW, I use Goodyear Eagle GS-A right now and am not too happy with them. They grip decently, but the road noise is high. Not worth the money. The Michelin MXV4 is also not inexpensive and I was not too happy with the grip.

Okay, I went looking at that site ... also saw the Continental ContiExtremeContact and ContiTouringContact CH95 as other possibilities.
It kinda depends on what your requirements are: braking, wet weather handling, longevity, grip, road noise, etc. The site will give you all the info!

MXV4's are terrible in the rain also, I sure didn't miss those. With the exception of the Eagle F1 which is only for the Corvette I don't like any Goodyear tires. It seems that b/c they have so much OEM market share, the don't want to make much of an effort with R&D.. I just went by the Tire Rack surveys when I got my Bridgestone RE950's. Pilot's aren't the top model for what they cost.
