Alright so my cousin hit a rock while backing up and left a pretty big dent and scratch in the front left side of that little lip thing underneath the front bumper and he is offering to replace it for me. I need to know what the part number is or what they call it. I can't find it anywhere

 

Get a wings west one.

 

seriously, have him get a wings west lip. If you get the replacement, it has to be painted anyways. And the replacement part is the whole bumper, not just that little lip, so slap a WW over it and call it a day.

 

i'm pretty sure that piece doesn't come off, I can check again when I get home, but frmo what I remember it's just part of the bumper, I'll check again @ home, but here's a pic

 

the stock front "lip" is attached to the bumper, only the sides and rear come off

 

I was pretty sure it was, I just checked since my bumper's still of and it def is. Just cover it with a ww lip, make him split it with u or somethin

 

Well I wasn't really looking at getting a lip but I guess I'll have to... They're too expensive! It's just a damn lip. Alright well I'll see if I can split the cost with him or something. I guess buying a brand new bumper isn't much cheaper anyway.

So am I gonna have to paint the ww lip as well? I was kind of hoping to come out of this without having to dig into MY pocket. I may just take it to a body shop and have them repair it and send my cousin the bill.

 

Just make him buy the WW lip himself and make him buy the auto spray paint...

Yea that's what I was going to do but I'm afraid it'll look like ass up close.

 

its just thick plastic. if you get a shop to repaint it, it should look fine.

 

hit that bitch w/ a heat gun for no more than 2min @ about 12-16in n a waving motion (side2side) depending on how hot it gets...

WW lip looks good, but it was just a family member that hit a flipping rock. if someone else hit me that'd be a different story.

 

So after some hammering behind the "lip" to get the dent out and a lot of sanding and only 1 coat of primer this is what we're left with...


Then I decided to repaint the whole lip to get rid of the curb rash underneath (Sorry, forgot to take a picture of the underside)

The other weird thing that you can see is that the stock bumper looks like it's already been repainted; you can see where it goes from 'speckley' to really shiny in the first pic.

There's a little bit of odd symmetry and some of the deep scratches still show but we'll sand it down and put some more primer on. For some reason my dad went to Calistoga at 5 am this morning so... We'll be finishing the paint job later on. I'll post the final product sometime this following week.
