stock bose amp?
How many watts is a stock bose amp??? Reason being is i wanna replace my head unit with the Kenwood KDC MPV-619. Circuit city says ya need this thing thats like 150 bucks to hook up the stock amp to that head unit. Would it be advisable to hook the stock speakers up to the new head unit? or would the amp still be more powerful than the head unit......
new one has :
-Full Bandwidth Power (less than 1%% THD): 22 Watts x 4
- Maximum Output Power: 50 Watts x 4
so in other words; can the head unit push the speakers about the same or even better than the stock bose amp? or; should i just wait till i can afford a new amp and speakers to put the new head unit in?
reason i want the head unit so bad is MP3 capabilities.

My assumtion is that it's no more powerful than 4 x 25 watts. I say this, because I read a thread in A/V and Electronics which stated that the 2nd Gen Bose system is 4 x 25 watts. I wouldn't expect our 1st Gens to be any more powerful. Here's that thread.
what I have learned about the bose amp is if you replace any part of the factory system, then the amp will not work, at least thats what I was told when I went to get my CD player, I ended up buying speakers all around, but I could be wrong, but thats what I was told by installers
No one knows the wattage any CL amp puts out. The only way of knowing is if it was tested correctly. Its a very small number, probably less than the stated 25x4. You can integrate the stock amp and speakers with an aftermarket deck, just use the preamp outputs from the deck and wire those to the wires running to the stock amp. Then when you have the money to upgrade the speakers, just run some new speaker cables to the speakers from the deck and dissconnect the bose amp.
Bdog- wanna trade steering wheels?? I could use the steering wheel controls.

so you guys are saying that the new head unit that puts out;
-Full Bandwidth Power (less than 1%% THD): 22 Watts x 4
- Maximum Output Power: 50 Watts x 4
would probably be better or at least the same to power the stock speakers?

I remember reading somewhere that the bose amp and speakers run on 1 ohm, while the head unit is running at 4 ohms. So if you were to get rid of the amp, it might actually be quieter. Do a search on that and look around.

well i was hoping that you guys would be able to answer this for me; although quieter would it be enough power to run the speakers at at least the same level as they are now with the stock amp?

come on guys; can't someone help? would it be ok to run the stock speakers on the head unit and expect to get at least the same amoount of power offa it? or would the head unit not make enough power to run the 4 stock speakers
i'm sure your head unit is pumping more power than the stupid bose amp.. one thing that you should be aware is that if the speakers do have lower impedance.. you are going to be running more current thru the stock speakers... more current means more power... and that means u might blow them very easily...
get some new speakers..
or just use the preouts and wire them to the stock amp...
hg

is it possible to wire it to the preamps? because the installers said that it couldn't be done that the amp was not compatable with an aftermarket head unit.
