starting problems
so after i went and had a lil fun tonight w/my CL, i ran into some problems. we parked our cars afterwards to take pics with the cars still on. we snap some photos, and i go back to my car and the engine is off. i try to turn it back on, but the car doesnt turn over or anything. i put the key in the ignition and turn it all the way and nothing happens! try it w/autostart, same thing, nothing happens, just silence. my dashlight light up, and i hear a click but nothing happens when i go to start it. i doublecheck to make sure my alarm system is off, cuz it wont let me start the car if its on, and still, nothing
. what could it be? my ignition? starter? clutch? alarm system acting up? i did a search on this and found nothing, so im turning to u guys before i pay for a mechanic

i dont think its the battery, everything still lights up normally, alarm is fine, everything gets power. i tried the clutch pumping thing, tried to pop the clutch to get it to start, nothing. And i dont hear any clicking. i dont hear anything at all! I know my car died @ the spot cuz it had no gas in it, so i got some and put it in and it still wouldnt start when i tried turning it over. tried turnin the key all the way, dead silence.

It's the starter, if you crank it 5-6 times it'll start, you are on a bad spot. I just replaced mine in augustIt'll start though
The fact that it died while running makes me wonder about the alternator. My CL did the fail to start, clicking thing and it was the battery. Relize that even if all of your stuff is working, the battery may still be toast. My last battery showed 12 volts, but the amps were way down, under 60. A dead cell will do it every time. If you've had starting problems in the past, you could have a loose ground. Don't jump head long into buying stuff if you don't need it. Test what you've got first and serriously start with the battery and grounding leads. Then move on to the expensive parts.
Good luck.
Good luck.
I forgot to ask if you tried jumping it... And whether or not you used the propper jumping proceedure.
Boosting car; + and -
Dead car: + amd grounded metal bolt or frame.
If you connected B+ to D+ and B- to D-, you could have potentially damaged the charging system, ecu, emobilizer system or the ABS control unit. An impropper boost can fuck shit up.

well after spending the whole morning trying to start the car, i just had AAA tow it to a shop my boy recommended. i pray its just something loose or i need a new battery or something. i really dont understand it, even the tow guy was baffled. i have full power, lights alarm all of that, i turn the key, it just clicks once and nothing. I need my car for everyday usage, this is a big hit 4 me

its official, it was my starter. shop is trying to charge me 330 for parts and labor to have it done by tomorrow. is that way too much? should i try to get a starter from autozone on my own n have them install it? oh yeah that price includes the 30 dollar diagnostics fee to see what the problem was. what do you guys think?

lol im in PA guys, i cant have any of u tri state guys do it for me. and theres only 1 place to get an alternator by myself here in state college, and they charge $147.77. That means 147.77 + 30 to find the problem means 152.33 for labor. geez, i sure do miss NY for the variety of places to go to get the parts =/
Starter isnt hard to do yourself if you have tools. Im sure you can get some tools from one of your bros if you dont have any. move the coolant hose, take out two bolts, take off a power cable, unplug a cable and youre golden.
