starting problem.
I have a 3.0 (J30) and for some reason lately, the car doesnt want to start up as quickly. When i turn the key, the engine will crank over and over but wont start. i will do it like three times or so and then it will start. itll run like a champ after that. the starter sounds perfectly normal too. it doesnt happen all the time either, but its is becoming very frequent.
My mechanic said something about a rleay, wasnt sure what he said.

i know these cars are tempremental with being low on gas.. if you have less than a quarter tank try a fill up and start again.. is it keeps doin it, its prolly the fuel filter. or maybee fouled dizzy cap.

is there any way to test for some of this stuff? i want to change the fuel filter for sure anyways.
Fuel filter will be replaced anyways.
Always have more than a half tank.
Any way to test Distributor?
If fouled dizzy, can I clean it?
Where this relay my mechanic was talking about?

This problem has the appearance of the Main Fuel Relay (MFR) failures experienced by many Honda products. You will need a wiring diagram and a component location chart to locate the relay.
First listen for the fuel pump to engage for about 3 secs when you turn keyswitch from OFF to ON, but no start. If you hear dead silence, suspect a MFR problem.
Check the fuel pump power supply line when you have a no-start condition. If no voltage when key is first turned to ON, then MFR is likely.
good luck

It's warm where you are, so it shouldn't have to do with anything being too cold - which is my problem. Hell, my car shuts off when I put it in gear if it's too cold...damn thing scares the crap outta me!

Does it click and not start? Or just hesitate, there's a big difference.
