speeding ticket
Damn, I just got my first speeding ticket, was racing a old 240sx that cut me off pretty badly, about 5 seconds of hard acceleration the CHP pulls right behind and turns his sirens on. He said he clocked me at 102 mph, anyone know what the california state penalty is for this? My first speeding ticket, don't really know the procedures, thanks for any feedback I can get.

Damn this sucks, do the points ever come off your record? Did you have to go to court and all that? What did you tell the judge? Do ya think there's a possible story that I can tell the judge to let the charges go off easier?

Was on my way back to school, got pulled right after Foothill college, around Saratogo, close to Guadalupe parkway, alot of things going on there, exits/entrances, I should of been more careful,
I hope the ticket isn't too expensive,

I have had a couple speeding tickets. i am actually going to court for my second one this friday. its not all that bad though. if you had an excuse you could plead guilty with an explanation. but from what you said it doesn't sound like have much of an excuse . all you have to say is "i am guilty and i am sorry i have learned my lesson and will never do it again" (more or less, be prepared so you don't go stuttering or break down crying or something). be polite. and dress fairly nice. and except what ever he says with "thank you sir". if you have a perfect record he should let you off fairly easily, and hopefully take off the point deduction so your insurence doesn't go through the roof. hopefully you won't be the first one up so you will get to see the procedure of what to do. you will do fine though, so don't get all worried about it or anything.

Speeding tickets SUCK!!!!!!
Yo,
Take it from me, I just spoiled my record 10 days ago on the way to Atlanta, Ga to visit my mom. Got busted doing 86 ( so he says - he he! )in a 55mph and a construction zone - automatic doubling of the fine! Well, I got snagged for $340 if I pay before court in Durham, NC - Doubles If I try to fight it and think about showing up in court. Makes me think twice about leaving the Radar Detector in the Probe again.
Well, to beat the system, go to a state certified driver improvement course, drivers safety course or drivers rehabilitation seminar - depending on what they call them in your state. Anyways, they last 8 hours, cost around $50 and reflects well on your license with the reinstatement of up to 5 points on your license. DO THIS PRIOR TO YOUR COURT DATE!!!!!!
Get the certificate and appear in court ready to show it to your judge
1 - It shows responsibility for your actions, and an honest attempt to atone for your actions.
2 - It defeats any points to be deducted from your license, this is crucial to your insurance rates.
3 - It increases the chance of a lower fine and penalty - works well out here in the East.
The only thing that sucks about this is you only get this shot once every two years, so use the force wisely young Jedi, or when you know you are gonna get screwed by going to court.
Good hunting and keep me posted on the outcome, and by the way, I go to class December 2.

Am I gonna what?????????
Hell no!!!!!!!!!! I ain't driving back to Durham, NC!!!!!!!!
I am mailing them a check, but passing a copy of the certificate to my insurance agent, as the state of Maryland will keep a copy in my file for 2 years, so no need for me to drive 3 hours - speeding or 4 hours normally to get my fine doubled and end up walking home. My points will be negated, so that was my biggest worry, screw the loot, that's the price I pay for loving my car and driving fast!
