Something weird
It seems like a bunch of weird stuff is happening to my car...
Alright so anyway. I've been noticing lately (now that I'm driving my car more) that it seems like the car will randomly gain power. Like when I'm going up a hill and my foot doesn't press harder/lighter on the gas, it will all of a sudden start accelerating up the hill instead of just holding at the same speed. This is all while the hill is getting steeper and no, the tranny doesn't down shift.
Seems like a dumb thing to care about, but what do you think would be doing that? Would a seafoam fix something like that?
On a side note, so you can all make fun of me:
I was planning on doing a seafoam and I went down and bought some. Then I remembered you have to change your oil after you do it and it just so happens I just got my oil/transmission fluid changed the day before. So... gotta wait a while before I do the seafoam.

could be a weak fuel pump? or a dirty fuel filter or something along those lines? i own a 2.3 and have never had vtec kick in and actually notice a big deal so i dont think that if what youre experiencing is noticable that it would be vtec, though i could be wrong. you dont have to do an oil change after seafoam if you dont put it in your oil, you can do the vacuum line part now and then the seafoam in the oil whenever your next oil change starts nearing.

I've also noticed that sometimes 1st gear is sluggish, at least more than it should be . Then when it hits around 3000RPM it starts to accelerate normally and THEN VTEC kicks in at 4300RPM. That happens occasionally if I press around halfway down on the pedal after coming to a complete stop. It doesn't seem to happen if I press all the way down or a little bit.

same thing is happening with me and I do think is the tq converter also, for the reason that my idle has dropped a bit and when I want to accelerate it feels a little sluggish. Check your idle if it has dropped a bit. Mines barely noticable like a hairline under 800. Is that normal? or should it be at 800 or a bit higher? Also when braking almost to a stop my rpm falls a bit under 800.
