I haven't done it to my CL, nor do i think I will, but my friend and I did it to his Cirrus. They sell a spray paint that you can use for it. Just cover the area surrounding the lights with masking tape to avoid overspray or take the lights out.

i did it once before...its pretty easy. I went to the local hobby shop and bought the black tint spray that they sell for the r/c cars. in the trunk if you remove the panel for the jack and pull the lining forward, youll see four brass nuts (there should be a panel on the other side as well). They secure the brake light fixture. once you remove those, unhook the power cord, and the lights come right out. hold the can of tint about 6 -10 inches away from the light and spray away. you can vary how dark they will be by the amount of spray you use...try out a coat or two and if you think its still to light put on another (since our light fixtures curve of to the side when you stand them up on the floor, i used a hair dryer at low heat from about 3-4 feet away to help dry the paint quickly before it started to drip down the sides). when your done make sure that you can see your brake lights through the paint when you brake. i put on about 3-4 coats and it looked pretty sick. i did the spoiler led's also and i put about 7 coats on that, and the leds still showed through. The only downside to using the hobbyshops tint spray is that it fades off and eventually the red will break through and as it fades it starts to look pretty shitty...then you gotta take it all off and do it again. I never had any trouble with cops pullin me over when i did it cuz they could see the red when i would purposely brake for them to see it...but just in case, you should keep a bottle of nail polish remover and a rag in your trunk so if they do give you shit you can fix it right there without getting a fix-it ticket...hope this helps

you can also use regular window tint no? I'd do that that way it can be removed.

i have a black cl and ive always wanted to smoke them out too, could you just take a can of black spray paint and LIGHTLY give it a coat inside the light? i think that would work, as long as u dont screw it up....

I wouldn't suggest spray paint. I don't think that you could get it light enough, plus it could run and screw up your lights.

ApocalypseCL was right on the money. The spray is called Nightshades and can be found at any local auto parts store. It's pretty inexpensive and is meant just for this.

Its not really no trouble....it takes a bit of muscle to rub it all off... Ive only tried the tint spray, you might want to look into this Nightshades spray that others have mentioned here, it might look better and not fade in the sun like the tint spray

i had an 87 honda prelude and i did my lights. it turned out pretty good. i had to do them twice. the first time i f*&^%$ them up pretty good but i just took some rubbing alcahol and rubbed it all off took about an hour. I wanted to get rid of those numbers on the lense. to get rid of them you just take some 1800 grit sand paper and rub them down flat then take some 2000 grit sand paper and wet sand the area. infact it wouldnt hurt to wet sand the whole light assy. anyways, spray one coat at a time on each piece. wait like an hour to see how dark they will be then spray enough coats to make you happy. 3 coats is pretty dark. then take some non-yellowing clear laquer, and do one even coat. to give them the shiny look and it also protects the tint. sounds like alot but its really not. good luck.

If you smoke you tail-lights and someone hits u from behind, with a good lawyer (the person who hit you) can get off almost scott-free. Don't do it!

I used the Nightshades tint... Turned out kind of foggy until I clearcoated it. It took a few times to get it right because sometimes the clearcoat would make the tint want to run off. The good part about the nightshades is that when you shine a light on the taillights they look red and reflect just like they did before. You can take the stuff off if you rub the stuff off with gasoline, thats what I did. It came right off. It definately looks awesome on black cars.
