i am looking into buying a 97 3.0cl with 94000 miles. I test drove it and when you take your foot off the gas it slows down quickly. It takes like 3 seconds to slow down about 10 miles/per hour. is that normal??? thanks

 

How fast were you going? Were you on a hill? The car slows down a lot more when you're at a higher speed and letting go of the gas.

 

was the e brake on.?

 

our cars are kind of known for havin bad rear calipers. which would make it slow down pretty quickley. have the dealer change them before you buy, and get an extended warranty for the tranny..

 

It sounds very normal. Are you sure it dropped that quickly... Also,what gear was it in? If you were going 45mph and let off, it would slowly come down. in 3 second you might be at around 41-42mph... If you were in 2nd and doing 20mph... You might drop to 15-13mph. Oh well... good luck.

 

I was going about 60 and when i let off it dropped quickly to about 50. I was in D4 and i was on a level road. It is a used car dealer and i will find out about the extended warranty. The e-brake was off.

 

I think wilp is right, check the rear brakes. Does the car make any odd sounds? Have any strange smells. Is the underbody clean, or does it have fluid residues all over it?

 

i looked clean. no smells or weird sounds. it seemed good.

 

Yeah, stop rallying your Acura. Maybe that's why there's residue all over it. Hitting too many rocks.
