Simple Question...Can someone verify what engine this is???

Hello all,

Just as the topic states...can someone verify what engine this is?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6755

I don't know if it's our exact engine or is it one from the newer Accords. Please enlighten me.

Thanks,
James

Good question and good find. Are there any benefits to running a JDM spec as opposed to USDM? As far as what it is, i would assume that it is from a newer accord. Not sure though

generally the JDM engines have slightly different compression ratios and consequently slightly diferent power numbers, not usually more than 5-10 HP or ft/lbs but in some cases the JDM counterpart is a beast.

I know in the 2nd gen toyota mr2's the JDM engine is out of control. It is able to handle crazy turbo upgrades and you can push easy 230 rwhp with no probs. Wasn't sure on how honda did things. Don't they run higher octane in Japan as well?

I am not sure what that's from. Since it says iVtec, it's a newer motor. so the exhaust and intake manifolds are on the oposite side as the old Vtecs, and the engine rotates in the other direction as well. That might not work in the CLs.

Thanks all for the replies. Damn! There goes that idea. So at this point can someone explain to me or point me in the right direction as to the difference between VTEC and i-VTEC, it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
James

i'm SURE it can be done. The i-vtec system is a 3 way where the old system is 2-way. IF you did the right research it probly only involves a few more wires. Wouldnt be any harder then a h22 swap imo.

well it would involve swapping a lot of (all) the electronics, as a new ecu would have to be used, and the motor is compeltely reversedit would require a lot of custom shit... not worth it at all.

almost any engine swap requires a new ecu and some sort of wiring conversion which is easily doable. the engine doesnt look reversed to me but either way it would still work the same, just backwards. All i'm sayin is that i wouldn't rule it out as an option. Looks like a hot lil motor.

I don't think it would matter whether it was reversed or not, well, just as long as I get the tranny that must be mated up with it.

The engine comes with the ECU so that shouldn't be a problem at all. The engine looks like it comes with everything but the tranny so I shouldn't have to worry much. But from the picture it looks exactly like ours.

Still VTEC and i-VTEC? Anyone?

Thanks,
James

Damn, for the first time I was told by a member to do a search. Wow, that was real helpful.

If I would say something like that I would at least post the link to it. It's quick and easy for one to say "do a search this is a repost" but if it was me and in many previous posts I would actually be helpful and post the link. I'd do this in the essence of helping other members.

But overall, I appreciate the pointer. And BTW, now I guess I have to apologize for this repost. And for all others, here's the link to the other thread, the one I supposedly committed a "repost" on.

Damn, just can't believe what this forum has now become.

*EDIT* I guess this thread can now be officially closed in great appreciation of viperkv and liloj. These days it seems post counts don't really mean much! *EDIT*
