Signal light stay on... possible???
Hi ppl,
I thought about swap the parking light with it but the voltage difference may cause problem and the parking light is probably not bright enough...
so...Is there way to make the signal light stay on all the time? and blink only when signaling?
Thanks

This can be done.
But in order for them to blink when you signal, with your lights on or off, you will need 5 relays.
If you would like futher instructions I can send you an email and I could probably sketch up a wiring diagram.

I know you can do it with a trailer wiring kit since trailer lights are typically one light that functions as a turn signal, running light, and brake light. Its too late to figure this out now but if you get the kit thing you should be able to figure out how to make it so that you can have your signal on all the time and blink as well. Oh you might have problems with the assembling melting though like YBLegal said. They get pretty hot believe it or not

use a lower wattage bulb... like a '67' I think it is... then no worries about melting the housing or socket. And yes that trailer wirring thing works, my friend did it on his CRX.

I wanted to do the same thing, but couldn't figure it out. So which way do you guys think is the best way to go, the 5 relays or the trailer kit?? I don't mind tryign it out, cause it's looks werid with just the parking light on, i saw a CL with the whole bumper light, light up, and it looks nice.

Run 12 volts to the lights directly from the battery through a normally closed relay in series with a normally open relay.
The normally open relay should be activated by the parking lights power (its red w/black stripe on mine). This will give the lights 12v when the parking lights come on.
The normally closed relay should be activated by the power to the blinker bulb. The bulb that used to blink is now turned off by the the normally closed relay opening the circuit.
So, from the battery, run +12 to a normally open relay (10-15 AMP) then run its other pole to the normally closed relay. From the remaining pole connect the turn signal bulb.
Splice into the parking lights (the red/black wire running to the outer end of the headlight). This wire should be attached to the normally open relay (when the prking lights come on the relay connects the pole from the battery to the pole going to the next relay.
The colored wire previously supplying the blinking bulb should be cut and attached to the normally closed relay. When the blinker "blinks" it will open the connection stopping current from going to the bulb.
You can use the black wire going to the blinker bulb as the ground. So there it is only cutting one wire and splicing into another. Very repairable if you desire to change it back.

Thanks, i'm going to try it out this weekend maybe, to see if it works. Hopefully i get what u're saying..LoL....but i think i have a good idea on what you're talkin about. Cause i tried using one relay. but it doesn't blink or come on. WIth two it makes more sense. but if you can, could u give a diagram. It would be so much easlier for me. hehehee

u could get a little more crazy and buy a dual filament bulb run some new wires and get a new bulb harness off some junk yard that supports a dual filament bulb instead of the single. then it would be like a brake light. on all the time then gets brighter when it blinks

if you do dual filament bulb; then it'll just like doing an amber light on anycar!!!
Really easy and could find all the parts at local store like pep boys; and if get universal ones you dont have to worry about fitting into your socket. but wont be bright as what excreman CL wanted, but safe and not legal!! but then again YBLegal right??

My hands are still dirty from doing mine... I used dual filament bulbs with sockets from taillights on a junked accord. They fit right into the 'twist-lock' on the back of the lens, so everything works perfectly... plus there was no need for any relays or stupid trailer wirring things. Looks pretty cool with the whole lens lit up for parking lights...
