Shock Sensor Ideas

Hey guys, I think its time I add a shock sensor to my car. I was reading all the posts explaing the wiring and what not, and I was contemplating a solution to providing fake 2-stage support for the 1st gen CLs.

Does anyone have any links or information about the the brain of our alarm system. I want to find out which pin/wire tells the alarm system a car door or trunk is open. When the car door is open and the alarm is engaged the alarm chirps 3 times as we all know. Well I was thinking that when the shock sensor sends the warning-signal, that it in turn could trip an external relay (from radio shack) which would short the trunk line giving the alarm the negative signal making the brain the door is open. The same signal could be sent through a series of inverters (also from radio shack). Inverting this signal a few times will add a very small latency in the signal giving the relay a microsecond or two to engage. By this time the the delayed warning signal could be connected to the pin/wire which engages the alarm system causing it to chirp 3 times.

I know this sounds like a mouth full but please let me know what you all think and I appreciate any input I can get on this project. If I can get the information I need I should be able to make little circuit boards and preassemble these things for all of us on the forum who want one. Shouldnt cost more than 5 dollars.

that's $5 for the circuitry, and then we'd have to provide a sensor and wiring, right? i would definitely be interested. the person i just bought my springs from on ebay wrote me an email with pictures before and after car theft, and his last words in the email were "whatever you do man, GET AN ALARM." so this sounds like a cheap upgrade to the stock system. keep us posted, i'd be down though

yeah i mean, my description of the circuitry will be a little more complicated but even still, if I can get these pin outs and shit, and get a working model, i can make them cheap, and yeah u will still have to pick up your own dual stage sensor

the alarm does not go off if the door is open. it churps three times to tell u its open and doesent set. so the sensor would do nothing. unless u find some way to go around that i dont know...maybee. also what would be the point in warning people before it goes off fully? oh yea and i still got some single stage sensors left if any1 wants any. i was thinking of putting one in the trunk and one in the hood.

i know the alarm does not go off when the door is open... on dual stage shock sensors there is a warning signal that will be triggered at a certain threshold so if someone bumped into your car walking by or something.... that would be annyoing if the alarm went off completly because of that, but if lets say your back bumper or side mirror gets clipped that would be enough to set of the alarm, the warning feature is nice....

i was simply saying that we could use the fact the alarm chirps 3 times as a way to generate a warning alarm

I was at my local dealership today getting my car looked at (alternator and battery are dead), and I was able to get a print out of the schematics for the Keyless Entry/Security System for the first gen CLs though out the whole car. This means I can now make this little module do what ever we want. If people have any suggestions or feature requests let me know.

lol, I was just talking about this with some kids at work tonight, I can do that so easliy. Radio shack has this IC you can buy which you can use to record voice on. the chip is like eight dollars or something like that, but basically u power up the IC and hook a mic up to the input pins, trigger the record button (and speak your message).... hook the play button into the driver side unlock pin on the alarm harnes (B8, an all blue wire), the output pins connect to the siren, so then when u unlock the drive door it will say

"hello David....."

patients guys.... I had to buy one of those $100 emergency jumpstart packs at pepboys cause my alternator and battery is dead, so any where i want to go untill I get this fixed I get to jump my car before it starts...... yay!

wakeboardfusion... now that i try and remeber, it was not an IC that radioshack carried it is that exact hobby kit that found there.

this brings me to the last bit of information I need to figure out before I can start designing anything. if anybody can find out the type of signal that comes out of the "Siren Control" pin A8 on the security harness, has anyone ever hooked a 12V source up to the siren and if so what kind of sound does it make

Alright guys I picked up a dual zone sensor at a local audio shop today.... I dont think I will be able to trick the alarm into producing chirp for the warning sound, so I will have to make my own tone with a simple RC circuit. I will need some help/suggestions on picking a sound. Maybe something like an "Electronic Canary" or something.
