how do u take off that stock 5spd shift knob?? i wanna put something new in there...does the boot just slide down somehow of do i have to take the whole console out?

 

just stick a small flathead in there inbetween the chrome plastic piece and then end of the shift knob. You dont have to take the console out to replace the knob, but you will if you want to replace the boot

 

does it pop out or do i have to unscrew it?

 

y ou have to unscew the shift knob, the plastic clip just pops off from the bottom of the shift knob

 

oooooo...so i can just turn the shift knob??

 

ok i just replaced the shift knob but it doesnt match the boot...does anybody kno if the metal trim around the top of the boot comes off? without taking out the center console..

is there an alternate solution? does anybody kno if the plastic ring comes apart? i dont want to cut it cuz i mite want to change back to the stock shifter....althought the shifter now is about two inches lower without getting a whole new shifter assembly

 

it looks like its glued on, so if u do get it off, itll look nasty.

 

ya i think im gonna just cut the very top and keep the metal trim incase i want the go back stock...ill take some pics when i get a camera....there is a huge height difference just from a new knob.
