Shaky start

For the last few mornings when i start my car (1999 2.3 auto) it shakes unusually for the first 4 seconds and then it goes back to normal for the rest of the day. It has been doing this a number of times and i have no clear idea of what it could be.

As i was thinking about it i came up with the following possibilties...

1.Change of weather (40 degree drop in temp, although it is Florida and it's not exactly arctic weather)

2. Motor mounts going bad?

Can someone please help me out as to what it can be?...thanks

PS....also for some time, when im reversing (auto) the car makes a funny rattle when i press the gas (sounds like it comes from the front). It only does it in reverse and when i press the gas pedal...any ideas?

ur first problem could be many things. idle air control valve. u prolly just need to clean it. it could be the plug wires. they "leak" spark sometimes. or just a general tune up could help.

the second part is prolly the valve chatter. make sure ur motor oil is full, or u could need to have the valves adjusted.

my old car did this and it was the distributor. it could be a lot of different things though.
