some things off the top of my head are
1. uneven rotors
2. worn brake pads
3. alignment
when you brake, theres the vibration from your suspension and braking system that is transfered to your steering wheel. With old cars like ours, theres really no way to stop the vibration besides replacing the whole setup.

alignment WILL NOT make a car shake, it will make a car pull and wear tires unevenly,

if it shakes when you brake you have warped rotors, if it shakes when you drive slow you have a separeted belt on one of your tires, if it shakes at highway speed you need balancing.

i agree with almost everyone...i had the same issue, and it was 1. tire pressure and 2. warped rotors...but brake pad...i doubt it

Save yourself a hassle and measure your own rotor runout and save a trip to the mechanic. It should not exceed 7 thou in the absolute most extreme cases.

Cheers

defently rotors. i had the same promblems and i redid my rotors but you should of done your brakes as well because what happends is that your brakes have the same tred marks of the old rotors and its going to pass it on to ur new rotors and you might still get some brakeing issues or a lil shake. i did this mistake. i only resurficed my rotors and mechanics told me that i had to do the brakes as well becuz of that reason. its your choice and when it comes down to it, its all about $$$$

depends if they got dropped between the point that they left the assembly line to the time you got them.... or possibly a flaw during manufacturing, but most likely it would be a no for turning new ones.
