Serious Question for the Gear Head

I own a 1998 Acura CL 2.3. Now I've been having small issues with my car since day 1. Nothing with the car, but with the heart (engine) of the car. Lately however I've been considering swapping out the motor for a bit more kick from the throttle. However, I have no brains for this, hence my user name "Shyt 4 Brains".

Now I'm a new member to this forum and began to read a little into past post. Honestly, I'm disappointed in the fact that Acura allowed whoever to build this car with such shitty standards. Honda should be embarrassed by this, and should hang whoever made this all possible. Just my opinion of course.

So now instead of just a motor swap, I'm thinking maybe I should swap out the motor plus the trans and get something that will really make my knuckles go white while gripping my steering wheel.

Sell the car and buy a GTR
Coming out too strong sorry
Acura CL is a car built for its category. Yes you can get what you want but... It will take over 20k and more than 5 years. No payoff without hard work.

Dude, they have a faster CL...It's called the CL 3.0... If you don't have the knowledge and skills for an engine swap then that's the only way you could have a faster CL.
Otherwise, I'd day H22..

It's a mass produced luxury car from the mid 90's, it's based off a honda accord. It was never meant to be a race car or performance based. It's a 4 cylinder "luxury" daily commuter

Says the guy with the username "shyt4brains" who comes on an Acura lover site insulting the car LOL. Anyway, there have been a few people on here that have had luck turning the CL into a fun performance car. If you're currently 4 cylinder an H22 engine w/t2t4 transmission is your best bet. It drops right in without changing the mount locations and takes a tad of wiring. Do a little research, its been done before.

@dainfamous: I never came onto this site looking to insult the car, people or anything like that. Yeah my username explains alot about my knowledge on cars, but I was under the impression that a forum was meant to help, and guide people looking for information on a subject, or sharing your love about a subject? This isn't an attack to you, because I ain't no e-gangsta, nor do I get a rise from bashing on people.

And my original usually about the car was aimed toward the transmission of the car. Not the car itself, so my bad. I do in fact love my acura cl, and would love to make it a mean beast on the streets. So my purpose here was to get opinions about what I can do, and what I shouldn't do. Guess I'm selling that b18c1 I got, lol. But thank you dude, you we're helpful.

I understand, I apologize for my misunderstanding also, we're definitely here to help. What I did myself was put an H23A into my 2.3 CL. DOHC vtec instead of single of the F23, more hp and torque. If you're on a tight budget you can also keep ur stock F23 transmission, but performance will suffer because the gearing of the F23 tranny is too long. You can use your stock wiring harness but there are a couple of wires that will need to be spliced, and you need to use a jumper harness to convert the ecu to obd1 to be able to tune it. It performs pretty well though, if you look up "CL vs RSX-S" or "CL vs B20vtec" or "CL vs VW MKV GTI" on youtube, you can get a visual of what it's like.
